Therein lies my point. ^^^^^ Why should we as taxpayers have to raise other people's children? Why can't the parents pay for their kids' lunches? Why can't the "low income" parents realize they should stop breeding if they can't afford to have kids? Here's why, because they know they have the federal gov't (OUR money) to get them thru.

Wow. "Why can't the "low income" parents realize they should stop breeding if they can't afford to have kids?"

What? Low income people shouldn't have families? surprised

One can be low income and not be "breeding", btw. It can mean that they only have one child.

Why can't they pay for their kids' lunches? They're poor!

You have idiots like Brad Armpitt wanting the gov't to send money to countries whose own gov't doesn't give a crap about them, but he's trying to put a spin on it saying "We don't want the American people to spend money, we want the federal government to." Well a-duuuh how do you think the gov't would do that? By raising our taxes. How do you think those kids would get subsidized lunches? By raising our taxes.

Isn't it time for some personal accountability? Or do they rely on our gov't for that as well? Oh that's right, they DO.
At some point in your life you may have missfortune I wouldnt wish to see your or your children starve.

All it takes is a job loss, a bad car accident, a stroke, or an illness, etc.

Exactly, that is why the republican ideology is bankrupt. We all are not born rich with money to fall back on in a crisis. At some point in our lives we all may need some type of assistance and I for one am glad it is there.

I know who they were. They weren't cramming the term, "family values" down our throats while they were running for President and after they married their mistress. Family values and having an affair and marrying the gf are NOT family values!! How can a person like that talk about family values?slaphead

What right-wing CIC did these things?? Reagan?? Bush?? Nixon?? Dubya?? All I know of is Gov Sanford. But I WILL say this, as in the case of Clinton, if they're gonna lie to their wives, I don't want them having a hand in running my country. What else will they lie about? Right OR left...

I'm talking about McCain when he ran for President.

He's a moderate so it doesn't matter.

He was running to be a Republican President. He touted family values with the history of having a gf while he was married and married the gf. That did not go over well with me.

he never touted Family Values...the last Republican to do that was Bush Sr. in 88...

His whole campaign was arabout family values, where where you, sleeping?

Right wingers seem to have this notion that Americans are all just standing around with their hands out. Well I don't know anybody that doesn't work and I live in an area that is not all that prosperous. Many here work 2 jobs because the wages here are so low. And still they can't afford health insurance. Why the right continually opposes any plan that will help these type of people to get coverage is beyond me.

Everyone I know would gladly pay into a system that would afford them and their families coverage. But it has to be within the reach of the average low wage earner. And that sure as hell ain't what we got now. And no one cares whether it's public, private or a combination.

Hopefully some meaningful legislation can get passed this year. And the days of the right wing "Screw you, you're on your own" policies will be over.

My neighbor works a full time job and a part time just to feed her children. The Dad is in prison. That neighbor needs state health aid for her children. I can't imagine being 50 years old like her and having to stand on my feet all day and then go to another job and stand on my feet for four more hours. Then she has to come home and cook dinner, clean and go to the laundromat and grocery store. I have nothing but respect for her.

Low-income people shouldn't have ANY children until they're sure they can afford them.

Why can't they pay for their kids' lunches? They're poor!

Well do you think those parents give a ****? They have our money to fall back on! Is it MY problem that they're poor? They should have thought about that before Momma popped out 3 or 4 kids.

Much you aren't aware of, sister. I started many jobs at entry-level. I had to WORK my way up to experience in my occupational field, no federal help, just myself and my son. But I KEPT working, gaining experience and learning what I could. I'd see girls in the break room wearing Versace jeans while filling out an application for fuel assistance. I'm supposed to feel sorry for them? Yea sure.

Yes, I do think they give a xxxx!!! I know some of them. One friend of mine is a single parent on SSI with rheumatoid arthritis. She got the arthritis after she had children. She ended up in Section 8 housing and food stamps and still tired to work in spite of her condition. She cares a great deal! Two months ago she had her arm cut off because she got a skin eating disease. Now she can get Social Security.

Many people become low income AFTER they have children. A death of a spouse can do it, a car accident, a car accident, a loss of job, or an illness.

Sister? You're talking to a single parent here.

Btw, you can get those jeans at a second hand store. Platos is a good store for that. There's yard sales too. You don't even know if those jeans are old and she bought them when she had money and now she's fallen on hard times. They could have been a gift too.

To be truly 'National' health insurance NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO 'PAY' FOR IT BY THEIR WAGES.

Our government should pay for it from the taxes we pay else they be double taxin us.

Which is what they are gearing up for anyway... Taxin our air even.
(I fart therefore I emit greenhouse gasses)

You obviously have no clue of a true conservative. Help where you can... DO NOT INJURE THE FUTURE OF OUR GRANDCHILDREN BY HELPING TO MUCH... To much is when you can see only diminishing returns... (i.e. inflation/recession in a vain attempt to stabilize your spending)
What they are saying is not 'screw you' but rather 'please do not screw all of us over inflexible ideals'.

There is a point at which ones formed ideals impacts with the wall of reality.

Only the mind-blind would continue tearing down the very wall that holds back the ocean.

So instead of paying for their children's lunches it's ok to go out shopping? These jeans were NOT second hand, the b*tch had spent ALL of her tax refund money on shopping. She admitted it. I'm single parent also, I'm sorry for your friend but she is in the minority. Most of those living off of the Gov't are able-bodied people who just don't wanna work. It's a fact.

During a provincial election in Ontario, Canada on September 12, 2003, the Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario disseminated a press release describing Ontario Liberal Party opposition leader Dalton McGuinty as an "Evil reptilian kitten-eater from another planet".[12]

In the 2008 U.S. Senate election in Minnesota, one ballot included a vote for Al Franken with "Lizard People" written in the space provided for write-in candidates.[13] The Norm Coleman campaign successfully challenged the ballot, which drew some public attention.[14]

Because these people think about themselves only. What they have is what they care about, heaven forbid someone that doesn't make the money they do should need help.

Too many Americans are selfish even when it comes to our fellow Americans. It wasn't enough to whine about foreigners that got hand outs, but now that we are in crisis it's ever man for himself and it shows in here.

I am going to celebrate it the same way I celebrate my own.. I DON'T.
I was born once, it's hardly something you forget. Celebrating America's birthday is rarely what is on people's minds. It's a day off to blow things up and eat and drink till your sick. It's either overly commercialized to sell junk or it's a day to put up the biggest flag to outdo your neighbors and for them to accuse you of not being a patriotic American if you don't put out a flag, which I don't.

Why do Americans always have to prove something to each other?

Not cynical thought it might sound that way. Just practical.

What Winx? you don't know that poor people are supposed to advertise they are stinking poor by dressing in rags. How dare they buy a pair of designer jeans for 2 bucks at a thrift store. How dare they show cash at a store register, where the worker assumes because they have cash that they shouldn't also have food assistance.

Some times I think people that don't need assistence are jealous of the people that have it. Yet life is no easier when you have the assistance.

The selfishness in here is so thick it chokes me to read some of these posts.

I'm not rich by any stretch of the imagination but shame on me if I begrudge people food or a pair of decent jeans from the thrift store.

Ya some will take what they can get even if they don't need it, I can't spend my free time worrying about it.

And you know this how? Actually you don't know this at all, you just assume it because you see some abusing it. There will always be abusers, and because we pay people next to nothing there will always be a need for assistance.
