I am a vet and a proud american. But in the end we are all immigrants in some form or another. Ask the Native Americans who the immigrants are. this is my point put very well

The people didn't become Americans until England's hinny was kicked outta here. And yes what was done to the Native Americans was absolutely horrible an should never have happened. But the Britians are just as guilty of such things in Australia.

The granting of citizenship to anyone born in the U.S. is a result of the 14th amendment and its subsequent interpretation by the courts. The 14th amendment was ratified in 1868 as one of the Reconstruction Amendments. The amendment's immediate effect was to overrule the Dred Scott decision which denied constitutional rights to slaves and their descendants.

Most white Americans trace their lineage to Europe. They fled and then dominated. I am a white American and even I see that. 200 year old laws vs 400 plus years of discovery. Columbus to now. |

 ok...from what I know of history...when a group "invades" and takes over a country...they set up their own government and laws until another "invader" comes along and takes over. that has happened all through history and happens today. yes the Native Americans suffered atrocities and that's not a proud part of history IMO. but there are laws now that we didn't have back then |

I agree with u. It should never have taken place. I can trace my lineage back to Native Americans. It's a very small part but I claim it with pride. We however were not the only country to try an wipe out the natives. England tried to do the same thing in Australia with the Aborigines. Back to the original point of the thread though. All I say is come into the country legally the right way.

Not to condone the genocides committed by our forefathers, but are we guilty of so much more than what was a part of life here before the Europeans invaded? Indian tribes would war against, invade each others territories, and their take enemies as slaves.
