Topic: Sales People | |

I hate people trying to sell me anything, and i refuse to let them. No matter how good the salesman might be, he aint ever gonna get a sale from me.
Anyone else the same? Or are some of you more susceptible to their techniques. |

Haven't seen Mr Zappa in a while. |

there are two kinds of sales techniques. Hard sell and soft sell.
hard sell is all about manipulation. Things like, ask a series of "yes" questions, hand the item to them and as soon as they look at it take it back (makes em want it more). A good hard salesman will make you feel guilty if you leave without buying soft sell is all about service. Be there for questions and help without being obtrusive |

I love having free time and making a sales person go through the whole gimmick, then tell him I have to think about it, and let him go through the hard sell. Then tell him I was just bored and wanted to hear how full of sh!t he was.

the last time i went to the mall, i got bombarded by 2 salespeople in kiosks. one tried to sell me a cell phone, something i really dont need, and this good looking saleswoman wanted put lotion on me. that made me laugh inside and think she was either adventurous, tried to make a sale, or just plain crazy

Speaking of salesman, I used to work at a call center, as a customer service rep in AC/Heating.All I can say is, I Hope no one has to do that job, didn't last not even 3 months before I quit. The only thing I learned from that experience is how spoiled we are.

I dont feel a need to be polite to people when they approach me unsolicited. |

I worked in sales for years...and the only way I believe in the job is to provide exceptional customer experience! IF the sales person cannot provide any customer service then they are not professional sales people, IMO. this "schpeel" is actually funny sometimes...I love to ask them about the products they are trying to sell...many of them know nothing about them at all...they just learn the script and that is it! it is more about building a 'relationship' with that person so you can provide them with something that meets a need of theirs... there are professional sales people who respect the person, and then there are those who just have no clue...I suppose there are a few in the middle somewhere as well... If the person doesn't know about the product, and cannot answer my questions, then they don't get my time or any money from me. aggressive sales people are much different than assertive sales people as well... |
