I personally never thought of it like that. I guess I am one of the oddballs on here. I always thought that the people that I see and talk to on here are real, honest to goodness human beings (untill proven otherwise). It is a fantasy playground in the sense that this is not real life. I've made many friends through here, but once we enter this site we are no longer in the real world. At least that's always been my sense. The reality is waiting for me on the bed in the form of a pile of laundry that needs to be folded. It waits for me outside my door once I'm motivated to get my azz out of this seat and into the shower... If you're just here for the fantasy aspect of it, that's fine. Just realize that everyone is here for different reasons. |

Really though, it is probably because they are not as guarded as they are in real life. The so called "thick skin" is pretty much non-existant, and that makes sense since this is "fantasy" of sorts. Shed all to an internet forum, and I guess they assume everyone will just tie into their side of the story and reinforce their ideas...and then people don't, well, now we have to back pedal. You see this sometimes, people will go back and edit their posts in order to reflect what the majority of people are typing, then you have people that just get offended and coupled with a few other people start waging a "forum war" against the "meanies"...no pun intended...
