Actually, Megadeth's been around about as long as Metallica has, which is at least twenty-five years- Dave Mustaine (the lead singer of Megadeth) was originally the lead guitarist for Metallica until he was unceremoniously dumped and replaced with Kirk Hammett (who was formerly of Exodus).
Of the Megadeth albums, I personally liked "Symphony of Destruction", "Rust In Peace", and "The System Has Failed"- all three albums have surprisingly-intelligent lyrics (mostly about government conspiracies, science-fiction related stuff, and socially-conscious subject matter), which works quite well in the kind of music they do. Their earlier stuff is a wee bit too thrashy for me, which can be a bit grating on the ears. |

Anything they've ever released. One of my all-time favorite bands, and they beat the hell out of Metallicrap.
Saw 'em twice in concert (Youthanasia and The World Needs A Hero tours). |

Personally, I've never been able to get into Megadeth because they'll take a riff that would be cool once or twice and play it eight times. BUT, I've seen them live on the Gigantour all three times, and the last time they just kicked a**. Played shortened versions of their songs (full length solos) and just blew me away. |
