I recently broke up with a minister I was dating. But what bothers me is that he is completely different from any christian that I have ever known. I'm not saying that I am perfect but when I sin I feel very conflicted but I notice when he purposely sin he doesnt recognize the fault. It really confuses me...so much so I had to say goodbye but in the end I am wondering am I judging him? I dont point the finger when he purposely sin but I will comment and walk away b/c I am really trying to live a christian lifestyle.

I dunno maybe some of you can enlighten me on dating a christian man (baptist, I should say).

there are good and bad in everything...even in Christianity. just remember...that even though someone may be a minister or preacher...doesn't mean the person is good. it's their decision to be hypocrites or judgemental

Sometimes, those who are of the cloth are the worst sinners. Some choose this as a profession to make a living, not because they actually believe it, either.

Like, I have a brother who is a minister, and his choice of profession came more from being curious at first about religions of all kinds. Then, later it kicked in that he wanted to minister. He's as much a sinner as anyone, but strives to understand himself and his relationship with God.

On the other hand,.... I have another brother who is a total butthole, but he HIDES behind the Bible, can quote any chapter and verse in response to any question. He is a phony Christian. Good thing God loves HIM enough to forgive him.

We are to judge actions, not people. It sounds like you made the right choice by ending the relationship. It dosen't sound like you were judging him, but what he was doing.

If you THINK he sin's and don't like it, you should leave that person. No man is above sin. And you can be the Pope and still sin.. But YOU could never be comfortable THINKING that your mate is involved in sins that you feel are wrong.

I'm a Christian, and I mess up way more than I'd really like to admit. However, I'm always striving to get better, and I know I've still got a long way to go.

The worst thing about what that minister is doing is that it starts to make others (especially non-believers or those whose faith is not very strong yet) begin to doubt the validity of the one whose Name we Christians have taken. It's gotten bad enough that I've begun to give people this one piece of advice: "Be careful about letting Christians influence your opinion of Christ." He should be evaluated on His own, without regard to any of His followers who might not really be doing a great job of following Him.

That's a good piece of advice.

Agreed!! Focus on the Redeemer, not the redeemed.

couldn't have said it better myself. no one is truly righteous not anyone.

A minister who is too righteous can begin to lead a group and become cult-like in my opinion.
