No not to me.. To her... I'm so sad, she was a beautiful person inside and out... I keep tearing up...

Well yeah... she was an incredibly nice person. Unfortunately, she also had her vices (she had been dealing with a pretty serious cocaine addiction for a number of years) as well as other problems (the most-recent being the drug-related troubles of her son Redmond)- so she didn't necessarily live the life of Riley, so to speak.

I don't know about the cocaine but well most did it back then... As far as her son, he made the choices and he's a "O'Neal"... I saw some of her artwork, amazing...

Yeah. She did have a bit of a substance abuse problem a while back. But -as you said- that was pretty much the norm.

And yeah- The O'Neal clan is pretty well-known for the drug-related problems, with Redmond being most trouble-prone at present.

I wasn't aware that she did artwork. I had heard somewhere that she was going to partner up with a clothing designer for a clothing line just before she was diagnosed with cancer, but that was about the most I'd heard of any of that stuff.

In her documentary they showed a painting she had done and in the Barbara Walters special tonight they showed some sculptures she did, they were frigging amazing... She was more than a pretty face and a sweet person...

I had no idea she did the art thing, especially the sculpture. Then again, this would be expected as I've never seen that Barbara Walters special.

And yes- it shows that she was quite talented in different arenas as well. Not just a pretty face with feathered hair. laugh

Cancer sucks.. I just don't know why we can't find a cure... I'm sure there are reasons I'm unaware of, it just seems so unfair...

Well... there are supposedly some quite-promising treatments for cancer out there. The problem is that the world of corporate medicine isn't interested in healing people, as there's no money in it. They'd rather tie things up with bureaucratic red tape and patent/trademark/copyright law so that they can squeeze as much as they can out of the lowly sickened masses.

After all, inventing and patenting new medicines and medical technologies is probably one of the most lucrative things to get into. Just ask Dean Kamen (the inventor of the "Segway")- he made millions out of a mere nylon mesh tube that was made to be inserted into the heart to prevent post-surgery heart-attacks. Not only that, but he also makes a ton of dough from royalties that he gets paid every time one of his devices is implanted into a heart surgery patient, too.

So yeah- why actually heal people when you can bilk them out of all their money first? noway
