Roadside memorials

Your thoughts?

Of course if you read my profile or know me at all you'd know I am against them.
Just think if everybody were to put one up.
Gadzooks!

and if this thread gets moved then I am totally lost on here.

Okay. I read your profile. Didn't explain to me why you'd be against roadside memorials. I have no problem with them. As a widow myself, I know many people who have a cross at the site of an accident. It's there for them, not us.

but, everyone doesn't and for those that do, it may be part of their healing, so i don't spend any time begretting them that. just goes to show ya, we all have our opinions! flowerforyou

They may clutter up a roadway...but they are also very sobering...

Are we waiting for the next clue or what? Is it because you're a driver?

Some, on highways are fine. I lived on a sidestreet in a family neighborhood and one was put up in front of my house while it was for sale. I wanted to take it down but I left it alone.frustrated

I am sorry for your loss. However, it must be therapeutic in some way for them. There is some reason why they wish to mark that spot, either in memory of their loved one, or as a warning to others of that location, i.e. hill, curve, etc.

By the way, in the movies when somebody is on life support...they just lay there still.....in real life it's much different.

they create a hazard for the mowers

and they are on proberty not owned by the erector usually

and they are a distraction to drivers possibly

Yep. Because no one would likely watch it if it shows what end of life is really like.

I am sorry for your loss. May I suggest that instead of getting sad at the memory of a lost loved one, turn it around and everytime you see a road side memorial think of the good things about your life and the good times you had with that special loved one.

sorry for your loss. but i doubt you will forget that anyway, recognize the good it may do others, and don't allow that to turn into your anger. flowerforyou

And yet I would think it would prolong the closure..I don't know.
It's a matter of opinion of course.
Which is why I like posting these kind of topics...instead of...what did you eat for lunch today???!!!
Not that there's anything wrong with those threads either!!!

I just like to stir up deeper conversations.
