 I would hate to see, hear, or read anything about someone losing their best friend. My room mate has two dogs and two cats. She loved them since they were babies. She keeps telling me how she doesn't know how she would feel if any of them died. All pets are loyal and a joy. flowerforyou Best wishes to you.

I went through something like this a couple of years ago. My cat (which I've had since a kitten for around twenty years) was getting quite long in the tooth and just wasn't gettin' around as quickly as he used to. He was also gettin' rather skinny and bony, which was probably the saddest thing for me as he used to eat anything and everything I put in front of him.

And then I had to leave town to do a job and left him with my dad. When I got back, he wasn't around. Apparently, my dad had opened his sliding glass door and the cat just booked on out, never to be seen or heard from again.

I checked all the local animal shelters and animal rescue joints in the hopes of finding him, but he was totally and completely gone.

I kinda figure he vamoosed to go off and die in private, which is something cats typically do. It woulda been nice to pet him one last time, though.

they are us, and we are them in another form of body. that is the

only difference, and losing a brother is one of the hardest things

we can ever do, for the solace we can give you here is but never

enough, but to have these memories rather than not, is the ultimate

gift he could possibly give you, and keeping that into account, you

will at least cry happy some, and the pain a different form.

i'm truly sorry bro, but we do see our friends again, trust me, i promiseflowerforyou drinker hopefully not too soon though!!!

That is beautiful and on the mark. I do feel God brings these fur people into our lives, whether a stray or from the store.
I'm glad your dog is still doing well. I was just saying, should he degrade or get ill......

Well, my dog has been acting odd this morning. He is old, so I know it is a matter of time before he goes, not any easier as he has been my only friend out here for the last three years. It is hard to watch him like this, I have tears in my eyes right now writing this. My chest is heaving and my breathing heavy, blurry vision coupled with peaceful thoughts of our past we shared.

Remembering how my Great Dane got ahold of his tail and screwed it up so it would never curl back up again, or how he fell off my bed one night when I was trying to get comfortable (still feel bad about that one). The tears are streaming down my cheek now, he is my friend, my old friend. Or how every time I come home from work it is like the first time he has seen me in years (he is always excited to see me, I will miss this most).

He's lived long, but it isn't any easier to watch him go. The tears are at my chin now, dripping on my clothes. He's spent the last three years at my side, always loyal, and always there. This doesn't make losing him any better, or a softer fall. My arms are shaking now, my hands losing their coordination.

This is my old friend, he will be sorely missed...

When he goes, I hope he finds a far better place than I will when I pass...he deserves more than I do, he's done nothing wrong. I have closets full...

I am so sorry for your pain and your impending loss. Went through it a few years ago with my "best friend" too. She was one of a kind, don't think I could ever replace her. Cherish the good memories. flowerforyou flowerforyou

I am sorry for your pain guy. I would think he feels your devotion and finds it great comfort. That you care so much for this form of pure love makes me think you are a far better person than you give yourself credit for. Hang in there. Lots of us wish you strength, peace, and grace in this experience.
