I find it funny that people have the nerve (I don't mean that in a bad way) to e mail you, but not post anything in the forums.

The funny thing is that there's ALWAYS a preface to it: "I wasn't really sure if I should e-mail you or not, but then I decided to take the risk."

As if I'm going to be so offended by a lurker e-mailing me that I would actually go to their house and rip their heads off and throw the decapitated bodies into a dumpster full of horseshoe crabs on meth. I almost never do that anymore, and even then, only if I'm having a really bad day, and it's raining or something.

I'm not so likely to e mail anybody that I haven't seen a few times in the forums, unless they have a most excellent profile, thereby providing something worth writing about. But even aside from the profile, seeing posts in the forums gives one a much better concept of their attitude in public interaction and what they might say if I were to e mail them.

I always promote the forums in my profile reviews. Sometimes I see them around, sometimes asking for their review is the only post they ever make in any forum.

The forums are 1000% better for getting to know about a person, in my experience. Profiles tend to sit, unchanged, for millennia -- not mine, I'm constantly messing with it -- but most people seem to put up a few lines and never even look at it again.
