If you are board then why not check out my band. We are pretty new and such, but would love constructive criticism.

Thanks. No other opinions from anyone? Levels of the instruments, comments on the music or anything? It doesn't have to be positive as long as it is constructive. Or even which song you think is best.

I really like the drums in In My Head, but the guitar is a bit hard to hear over the vocals at points. It's probably just the recording. That songs really very grunge...
Die Tonight, I love the bass intro there. Sick. Vocals are much better on this one and it's more of an up tempo song. Which I like. No, I really like this song.

Band name is cool too. Ruby Mae is definitely easy to remember and you could put some cute little evil chick as you're heartbreaking mascot on your CD labelsbigsmile

okay, honest...vocals seem to be a little off, out of tune or something and drowning the instruments, maybe tone that down a bit. love music and anybody who pushes their creative edge that way... drinker flowerforyou

I'll check it when I get home from work.

In the meantime, anyone wanna check out my band? SpiritHouse 13 (on hiatus til I return to Poland next summer) at:

www.myspace.com/thirteendeaths

It's a bit of trip-hop, rock, metal and industrial.

For something a little more mello, check out some of my other song-writing sang by Kara Black:

www.myspace.com/karablack

the track 'Nothing More' seems to be people's fave as well as 'Paranoia'.

Thanks for your support!

I really like the music for Die Tonight. The vox in both songs could be enhanced by using your foot pedal with a light distortion and delay and/or chorus effect. Hold some of your notes out a little longer with those FX on, and you'll be able to blend them into the music a little more, making the song more balanced. I think you'll like the way it turns out.

What are you recording on? I recommend downloading Cool Edit Pro 2 (I can provide the info if you email me here) as it is a very simple multitrack recording program. But it sounds great and gives you all sorts of options like panning and such which would really be great for the basslines and the riffs.

But definite see the potential here, don't give up!

Thanks everyone. I am not sure what we record on. Our drummer just has stuff in the garage. We are a really new band. I am glad you like the bass because that's me lol. I just started learning bass for this band too. I have only been playing for like 2 months, but I write my own bass lines.

I also think that sometimes the singer is too grungy but his friend who is one of our guitarists prefers him to be grungy even though the drummer and I rather him sing normally.

I agree with bastet. Whoever is doing your sound & mixing needs to get some tech help to help them become better at what they do. Sound and mixing is just as important to get a better sound out there for your band to possibly be discovered.

Another word of advice, don`t let the egos take over. It`s ok to butt heads over creativity, but work together, not against each other. (Been there done that. I used to play drums.)

Practice. Practice. Practice. Play what is in your heart, not what is in your head. Persue your dream. Keep jammin. Good luck.drinker

I am not too worried about the mixing. What we have up right now was just to get a little exposer because we are new. I was told that our singers uncle owns a recording studio and we will be able to use it later, so we will have more professional sounding stuff in the future. I think it sounds pretty good for being recorded in a beat up garage.

We would definitely get higher quality stuff when we are ready to put something on a cd.

You may be right. Luckly we recorded everything seperate so we can go adjust the sounds individually. I am in Japan right now though and those guys can be slow to get stuff going.

Well, I went to Japan and came back only to find my band replaced me. How fun.
