I forgot to add. Lastnight, I was going to the store around 3am. I
told myself not to buy cigarettes anymore, but I grew weak at this
moment for some reason. Some of you may never guess, financially, I am
going through a hard time until Sat. Which doesn't bother me. I
believe God always provides for me and has never left me without. Which
is true if you were my shadow and could see for yourself. Anyhow, I had
like $9 on me and some change. I bought my smokes and was like "Cool, I
still have some money left to last me until Sat." Although I seen a
homeless man outside.

He asked me for change, and I figured I could give him the $3 in change
I have left and I will still have my $5 to last me until Sat. Anyhow, I
came back outside and gave him all my spare change. I offered him a
cigarette, because he felt bad taking my change and me refusing him to
wash my windows. When I gave him a few cigarettes, I noticed he was
going to hold on to them. I said "Hey, I am going to hang out and smoke
here if that is okay, do you need a light?" and he said "Yes, thank
you". We talked a little bit, and I was looking into his eyes the whole
time. He wanted to tell me his life story, but held back. Instead, he
asked how are things going for me.

I just told him what I did on the weekend and asked him how he is doing.
He told me about his life. I learned that he was a diabetic. When he
was asking someone else for some change and that he would wash their
windows, I reach into my wallet and pulled out my last $5. I said,
"This is all I have, and I want you to have it. All you have to do is
pray for me." He held out his hand and said "Go on and take my hand,
don't be afraid," and I took his hand. We stepped out a few steps into
the parking lot, and he prayed for me. After that, we started talking
more, and he was telling me how he strongly believes in God and that he
is thankful God sent me to help him out that evening.

He began to swell up with tears. I couldn't help but to swell up with
tears as well. He knew something big was going on with me, but it was
only about my future, nothing that has me stressed. If you read my
other post, you would know I can't stop thinking about a certain woman
who has me thinking all about my future. I just wanted some kind of
blessing or sign to know if I should even pursue this woman.

Anyhow, his friend came to get him, and we said our goodbyes. I told
him my name, and he gave me his. He said to pray for him when I get
into my car. I told him I will... and I did. Not a minute later after
leaving, I began to cry for this man. Begging God to change this man's
situation. Rodney is his name. I ask anyone who can show mercy, to
pray for this man as well. And also to try and see the good in
everyone. You have a heart, and you have a mind. Don't use your mind
when your heart is telling you different. You can tell the difference.
Atleast, when it comes to someone in need.

Thanks,

Faustino

Yeah but I am sure it was for a reason. God works in mysterious ways.
I look forward to getting paid Sat and finding this guy, and possibly
doing something special for him.

I have a tendency to jump before really meeting a person, and judging
them by their post or thread. You have shown me just how wrong I am
about you. I am truly sorry that I have judged you in that manner. Thank
you for not holding grudges like other people do. I truly apologise, and
I am keeping you and Rodney in my thoughts and prayers. I do hope that
his situation changes for the better, and I hope you find your true
happiness.

Yet once more today. I was compelled to read your post. I'm struck with
Awe again. Faustino, I have no clue what it is you do in life but I do
know one thing that is for sure. You have a gift far beyond what you
know of. That is the gift of writing. I read your post When you least
expect it also and left you a response there as well. You really do need
to check into writing short stories or anything of the nature. You have
a way with the words that you just pull one into reading them and what
is so Awesome is these are words from the heart. You do give a very good
visual of what is taken place as well. Anywho I'm totaly amazed of the
gift that you have.

And yes Rodney will be in my prayers as well.bigsmile

Faustino is wise well beyond his years. He is a true humanitarian,
something you don't see a lot of these days. Bless you, sweetie, for
caring so much and for trying to make a difference.

Faustino -- I can identify with what you're saying. There is an older
homeless gentleman I run into on a regular basis and I always make sure
I have some money for him. I have even posted about him here before.

People have actually given me a hard time for helping him out; I've
heard "Why are you giving that old bum your money? He's just going to
drink it up." But it's not for me to judge him, or what he does with
the money he gets -- I don't know his life, his history, what he's been
through. All I know is that he needs some help, and I can be a small
part of that.

I never lose sight of the fact that, had things gone just a tiny bit
differently, that could be me sitting there with that plastic cup in my
hand. Circumstances change, life changes, you wake up one morning and
things are totally different. Who can say what our lives will be in a
month, a year?

I see this man, I stop and talk to him, he is quiet but has a quick
smile, a pleasant "thank you" for everyone who drops a few coins into
his cup. I see my grandfather in him, my dad, my brother, my cousin,
myself. I see a man who deserves respect, a man who is doing what he
has to do to get by. I wish I had the means to do more. I wish I could
build him a house and get him some furniture and a car, and ....

Well, you know.

You do what you can. Something is better than nothing. I think you did
a wonderful thing, and I think it says a lot about you.

Rodney is lucky to have met you.

And you are lucky to have met him.
