Be nice and civil to someone you can't stand??? I was at my neighbor's son's bday party the other day. She is a very dear friend of mine and I am very close with her children.
So her sister in law comes to the party and brings her LOSER boyfriend. He's not even 30 and he's walking around with a cane. He can't work because he got a back injury... on his FIRST day at his job. Since then, he's racked up "he was bragging" to around 120,000 in medical bills paid by all of us good citizen taxpayers. He's complaining about his therepist because she told him he needs to quit complaining and find a job... there is A JOB somewhere he could do. His own doctor is telling him this. The sound of his voice just made me wanna strangle him I just wanted to walk over there and kick that cane out from under him... but I figured I'd prob get sued right along with his last employer So tomorrow my friend wants me to come over for another gathering and this guy is gonna be there again. I don't want to blow it off but I seriously doubt I'll be able to be civil |

I avoid them for the sake of loved ones and I let the loved ones know why so they could keep them away from me....otherwise I may not be nice

Say the least, talk only when asked. I don't have a lot of people I can think of whom I can't stand, but there are a few that I think negatively, due to their actions and behavior. I just don't say anything to them.

Place a whoopie cushion under his seat & see how quickly he jumps up... Fake cripples are always good entertainment...

Toss him the newspaper job ads, give him the number to the local McDonalds, call him a drain-on-societies-resources and then kick the cane out from under him......hell at least enjoy the fantasy a little bit!
TM PS..In reality you have some pretty good advice being given from everyone else...I figure I would just suggest something that you have already thought of so you would feel appreciated. =P |

While I'm loving some of the suggestions here (and taking notes), my instinct in these situations is to remove myself as far away from the offenders as humanly possible and take deep breaths and remind myself how important the people attending that I care about are to me and how upset they might be if I just go off on this fool! Deep breaths. Step away.
But if they get REALLY REALLY OBNOXIOUS: A big huge "Oops, I'm so sorry!" accompanied by a big huge cup of ice and sticky liquid down their backs helps ME! |

well ya could always egg him on and get him to chase you around the house or the yard
then turn him in for fraud or if he cant chase you around the house and yard then maybe he is not faking it no one can truly know the extent of anothers pain all you can do is grin and bare it or try to prove him a fraud or ignore him completely and let you friend know if is gonna be there you're not but letting another cause you to react to them is giving them a little bit of your very inner being (so as long as he gets to you he wins) |

i`d give a little rant at the perfect time, you wont get any probs from those around you as theyle apreaciate your effort in being so blunt and saying what is on all there minds, and with any luck he`ll feel like a ****. timing is everything

I am the kind of guy that would go right up to him and tell him I don't like you because you're a loser.
I hate people that are afraid of hard work....or even easy work. yep. |

I've never found anyone yet that I could not be civil to at a gathering. Hummmm kill them with kindness and every time they start a subject pop in and change the topic for some reason they finally figure it out heheheh
