Hi Twilights, Good luck with this, quitting smoking is hard, I know, I've smoked for 20+ years and have quit many times, only to start up again, bummer. The longest I quit was for a year (in 2006). What helped me the most was having something in my mouth all the time, (yes, I am a compulsive eater, too, but that's another story). I bought sugarless gum by the busload and that helped a lot. Even though my jaw used to get tired from chewing 24-7, it kept me from smoking, and being sugarless, it didn't pack on the pounds or rot my teeth out. I'm on a diet, now, if I can stick to it and lose the weight I need to lose, then I will try once again to quit smoking, but I don't want to try and quit two things at once, as IMHO that's a recipe for disaster. Good luck and best wishes from SheNerd :)

Good luck, I know you can do it! The first three days are the hardest, then the nicotine is out of your system. I finally quit for good in 1991 after three tries, used to smoke over 2 packs a day. Don't drink any alcohol for awhile, it makes the cravings worse. I used to shred paper napkins after a meal or with coffee to do something with my hands.

I've been smoking for about 10 years, Ive had 2 open heart surgeries <---good reason to quit right? But the stress sucks, I smoked to feel "normal" and sane. I quit for my pregnancy. But this is hard, Im just telling myself its not an option, next!

I quit the cigarettes just over three weeks ago. I guess the only way I would smoke now would be if i caught fire. Hi Katie. How's the blushing bride to be? | |
