I've had horrible dreams for the past couple nights.

The night before last was that I got arrested the previous day (for what I don't know) and just before they were going to let me out of jail and take me home, I gave the officer some money I found in the trunk of his squad car, and he grabbed my arm and threw me back in jail. They had changed their mind and weren't going to let me go.

Last night I dreamt for some stupid reason I got high two days before probation. Then I was in the probation office trying desperately to drink enough water to pass my drug test. I woke up when the phone rang.

These dreams were so vivid and realistic feeling. I was sooo glad when I woke up this morning and after a minute realized I had not gotten high. I really do have to report to probation tomorrow.

So what's in your nightmares? Monsters and aliens? Falling? Being lost? Losing somebody?

Well, after what you've been through lately, I'm not surprised that you're having dreams of that sort...might just be your subconscious' way of keeping you straight?

My nightmares are usually centered around "betrayal" by friends, The Apocolypse, or alien invasion...don't know what the hell my subconscious is trying to tell me!

My dreams are always so vague. Even though I am scared in my dream, I'm not really sure why when I wake up. It's usually very dark and unfamiliar. If there are people in my dream, I usually know who they are although the dream person looks nothing like the person in waking hours. Very surreal, what should be a normal activity takes on a sinister edge.

I have suffered from extreme nightmares since I was a very young child. Mine are always really bad and very real and mostly about being raped or killed, or watching my family or friends being raped and killed in horrible ways. There is no cure for nightmares, unfortunately. I wish there were because it would make sleeping much better for me. Through the years I think it's gotten better for me in that I don't have as many as I used to, but now when I have them I wake up with a paranoia attack and I cannot move/get up to go to the bathroom/reach for my phone or anything because I'm too terrified. That has gotten worse, but it's something you just deal with I guess because there isn't a cure and sleeping pills just made everything worse for me. Hope your dreams get better. flowerforyou

I used to have repetitive dreams.
Some were about the devil sucking me down into the mattress into hell, and I'd be screaming in my dream, but nobody could hear me, and in reality I wasn't making any sound.
Another frequent one was about tornados and being separated from family, losing them.
And one I had for about 20 years, that I was at a picnic with my family and my mom let me play in the stream with an empty spice bottle. The bottle got away from me, floating downstream. My sister & one brother tired to fetch it out for me, but they got sucked into the stream and went away. The odd thing with that is that it ended up based on reality and when I went to visit Hacklebarney Park in NJ, I was standing in the exact same spot that it REALLY happened, and I haven't had that nightmare since.

Clean and sober close to 28 yrs and I still have
"Wet" dreams where I drink and use.
Crazy stuff. Some folks say its because you're not working a program or its a sign or impending relapse, I say BS, it just a dream.

I don't need subconscious ways like that. I have plenty of conscious reminders that already scare the hell out of me.

I certainly hope it's not a sign of impending relapse. Can't afford that right now, or ever really. I agree with the BS call. What the hell does not working a program have to do with the way you dream?

Mine are more of the strange variety-like puppies growing in trees. Never did figure that one out.

I can't even recall the last time i had a nightmare, let alone what it was about.

I've had a few dreams I consider weird and that leave me a bit shaken, but not that i consider a nightmare. The last of that kind, I mentioned a few days ago (the Alice in Wonderland type dream). Before that, a few years ago I had a strange one that had a bit of a scary part (for me at least, since I don't like being tickled) where i felt something tickling my legs. I dreamt I pulled the covers back and a bunch of spiders went crawling off my legs, onto the floor, and under the dresser. The dream had more to it, but that was the only thing that would be considered slightly scary.

My dreams tend to lean more toward sureal than scary.
