In 37 years of life here in the South, I've had a hard time figuring out
some of the terminology, but I think I've got a handle on why they call it "sweet tea," instead of just "iced tea." Good Lord, a person could get diabetes drinking this stuff! |

Hummm well he we have to get sweet somehow lmao

Sweet tea is sugar with a little tea added. I like my iced tea (which I
drink year 'round; I don't do coffee) with NO sugar, so I have had a hard life, lol, trying to find bottled tea at convenience stores, etc., w/no sugar, much less this sweet tea sh*t! MJ |

Yup, straight-up ice tea in the South is a hard commodity to come by.
By the way JeanC, nice tatoo! |

JEANC, LOVE THE PICK, DON'T DRINK THAT SWEET TEA, I'VE GOT SOME FRESH
COFFEE IF YOU NEED IT |

I grew up on sweet tea. My mother and grandmother were from south
carolina.. I was raised in Minnesota, and all my firends loved moms tea...lol.... but she just said tea, as that was all they served..besides food I mean...lol |

I'm English, so I prefer tea to coffee, although many people drink
coffee, I like my cuppa every morning. I like it hot sweet and milky. Just like a woman. |

Tigerman, the LAST thing I need to drink is coffee.
The tea I'm speaking about in this thread is actually the new Mango whatever tea from Sonic. It's so sweet it's disgusting! |

I remember the first time I ordered tea in the Soutth and it was sweet
tea and I almost gagged, I hate sweet drinks. I like strong black coffee or espresso, or just plain old green tea, no sugar added. I like to save my sugar for my chocolate attacks... :) |

In GA tea is sweet and iced unless you specify otherwise. And the sugar
is added when the tea is still hot. It doesn't taste the same if you add the sugar later. |

JEANC, THERE IS YOUR PROBLEM, IT'S SONIC!!!! YOU NEED SOME OLD FASHION
HOME MADE ICE TEA |
|
|

I'm not a fan of iced tea that much, but if I do drink it, I usually
have to make it. I like it somewhat strong, and a bit sweet, but not like the tea-flavored sugarwater they make here. |

Yeah, GAMail and that's how it should be. If you want your tea
unsweetened, you should just say "unsweetened." but no need to refer to it as "sweet tea," IMO. That's like saying "ink pen." LOL. |

I'm sorry Op I have no clue what it is..
sweetened tea? A regular sweetened tea? no I did not read all the posts. I am guily and ashamed. |

People here in the South refer to iced tea as "sweet tea." Unless they
order it without sugar, in which case they'll say "unswetened tea." And there's a reason they call it "sweet tea," I've found. "Sweet" isn't the word for it. They should call it "Diabetic Demon" or something like that. |
