So, I'm sitting in my living room with my mom, watching her re-runs of Dallas on tv and just had this conversation:

Mom - That dishwasher is noisy...I should turn it off until Dallas is over.

Me - Yea, you might miss JR being a jerk whenever his mouth opens.

Mom - You know, I've been married to your father for 37 years and I've only had a dishwasher for 6 months.

Me - ...yea that's a big time difference.

Mom - I'm thinking I would like him a lot more if he would have bought me one years ago.

Me - Really?

Mom - That's the key to a happy marriage.

Me - That would have made you and dad happier?

Mom - Yep, a dishwasher.

And I just take this as either moms losing it a little, or they were just so happy that having to hand wash dishes for a family of 9 was the only thing she could gripe over.

Dishwashers arent that great. Everyone fights over how to put the dishes in "correctly" and who loads it and unloads it. I would be much happier with paper plates!!bigsmile

When we were kids we would ask our Dad to buy Mom a dishwasher,
he always said 'What for? I already got 4 of them'

It just goes to show you that your mom does not have anything to complain about the way your dad was all those years. See that is true love in it's finest!!!! PRICELESS........... love

[Spoken:]
When I became of age my mother called me to her side
She said 'son you're growing up now, pretty soon
You'll take a bride'...

[Sings:]
And then she said...
'Just because you've become a young man now
(Man, now)
There's still some things that you don't understand now
(Son, now)
Before you ask some for her hand now
(My son)
Keep your freedom for as long as you can now'

My mama told me...'you better shop around'
(Shop, shop around) a-whoa-yeah
You better (uh-huh) shop around!
(Shop, shop around)
Uh-uh-uh

'There's some things that I want you to know now
(Uh-huh-...ooo)
A just as sure as the winds gonna blow now
(Uh-huh-...ooo)
The women come and the women gonna go now
(Uh-huh...ooo)
Before you tell 'em that you love 'em so now
My mama told me...'you better shop around'
(Shop, shop around) whoa-yeah
You better (uh-huh) shop around
(Shop, shop around)

'A-gotta get yourself a bargain son
Don't be sold on the very first one
A-pretty s come a dime a dozen
A-try to find one who's gonna give ya true lovin'
(Uh-huh...ooo)
'Before you take a and say I do now
A make sure she's in love with-a you now'
My mama told me
(You better shop around)

[Instrumental]

Oh-hey-hey-hey
(ooooooh)
'Try to get yourself a bargain son
Don't be sold on the very first one!
(First one, first one)
A pretty s come a dime a dozen
A try to find one who's gonna give ya true lovin'
(Uh-huh...ooo)
Before you take a and say 'I do' now
Make sure she's in love with a-you now
Make sure that her love is true now
I'd to see you feelin' sad and blue now'
My Mama told me
'You better shop around'
(Shop, shop around)
(Uh-huh 'don't let the first one get you')
(Shop, shop around)
On no,cuz I don't wanna see ya 'wicher'
(Uh-huh shop, shop around)
Uh-huh 'before you let 'em hold you tight'
(Shop, shop around)
A-yeah-yeah (shop around)
'Make sure shes alright'
(Uh-huh, shop, shop around)
'Uh-huh before you let 'em take your hand my son'
(Uh-huh, shop, shop around)
'Understand my son'
(Uh-huh, shop, shop around)
'Be a man my son'
(Uh-huh, shop, shop around)
'I know you can my son'
(Uh-huh, shop, shop around)
I love it
(Uh-huh shop, shop around)
A shop around...

I thought it was sweet but odd. Just like the whole family. Mom says she's loved dad since she met him in a dirt village in Mexico when they were 11. And at 19 Dad realized he had to save Mom from her crazy mother so they got married when they got to Canada and had a whole mess of kids.
How do you top that?smooched laugh

If she would've loved him a little more for a dishwasher,,,
I wonder how much more she would've loved him for a maid,,,
