I went tanning today as I do most days, but today they put me in a bed where they just changed the bulbs. grumble

Guess what? Yes, you guessed it, I am burnt.

Shouldn't they tell us when they do this so we don't stay in there too long? tears

Yes, I am whining and it feels good.

Rant over now. laugh

It's awful to get that burnt. I hate going at the busy times when someone just came out and the bed is still hot.

No MJ I don't want to be orange...Tanning beds don't do that. Self tanners do

silver, I know what you mean. I didn't think it was that bad until the day as gone on laugh

Hope you had a good vacation anyway

Wouldn't it have been better to just get the tan while you were ON vacation???

Isn't that what vacations are usually for???

never really saw the appeal of tanning. I just spend more time outside. Kinda funny though back in the day people considered fair skin to be more appealing because it meant the person was of the noble class rather than the peasant farm class.

I'm a natural redhead, so I don't tan...I just glow in the dark...

the sun's effect on the skin causes the brain to release endorphins (like dopamine) which are pleasurable

that's why people lay out and some even get addicted to it

my place is good about telling people when they change the bulbs and they suggest changing the time you stay in.

because of well health reasons...the sun and tanning actually help me.

Kinda a strange trend if you ask me. Mostly women in my area like to create the illusion that not they are a member of some kind of a leisure class, but to create an image of being healthy by being darker. Just an assumption I guess.

When my twin sister and I were fifteen, our aunt gave us a sun lamp. We were young and stupid and did not realize that the effects don't show up until much later. We wanted to get our faces really tan. So we kept taking turns under it, with our faces turned upward, directly under the lamp.

After several 20-minute sessions, our faces began to get a little pink so we figured we had had enough. Several hours later, we began to see how burned we were. The next morning we were miserable. We had blisters on our faces and could not open our eyes in the daylight without tears gushing out of them. We had to tin foil our windows and wear sunglasses. My mom took us to the doctor and we had third degree burns on our corneas. It was awful. You'd think that would have stopped us from tanning. It didn't. laugh

Now that I'm older, I will let my arms and legs get a little tan, but I never tan my face. I have enough sun damage and I don't need more! sad2
