Topic: Heading to Washington | |
---|---|
We planned on Victoria for the museums, Butchart Gardens, they have a castle to tour, lots of "touristy" things to do. We will have to figure out how to get to Vancouver to meet you Gyps, unless you can make it to Victoria. (Plus, Victoria is about a 45 mile drive (to Port Angeles) from where I live, and just a 90 minute ferry ride after that ).
We don't know the exact days we will be there yet, but do plan to spend one night as there is so much to do. The ferry to Victoria is about $25 round trip for walk-ons. Hadn't planned to take a car, but may have to rethink that?? The ferry drops you off in downtown Victoria and many of the things are within walking distance. "Beach" - thank you, you have always been a great friend to me, too!! |

The plan was for Victoria, BC, Canada, as in my first post, for all the "touristy" things to do. We can try to work in Vancouver, will have to work out the logistics of travel there, may have to bring a car instead of walking on the ferry. Something to think about.
Her visit dates are 9/4 through 9/14, Gypsy, we need to figure out exactly which days we will head north. Do you have your schedule that far in advance?? What days off do you have? Yes, we do need a passport or enhanced driver's license to get through the border now. I got my birth certificate from the health department, cost $20, and they give it to you the next day. I have to do the rest of the process now. Would be great if we can meet up with you Gypsy. |

Not necessarily, think we will use the tall one (Pat) for our GPS. I have been to Victoria several times before, but not for about 25 years. That is how I know about the museums and the great places to tour. |

oh you'll enjoy it ..Washington is gorgeous...
so many trees & Mount Rainier is incredible and aside from popular opinion from unknowing folks who haven't been there it doesn't rain all the time, but the weather is changeable soo bring clothes for all kinds of weather for, it is predictably unpredictable... that is why it is so hard to pack i bring everything from bathing suits to winter clothing & everything in between |

I have been to Texas many times, but I don't count that as going west isn't that considered south?

I am hoping we have a little bit of an Indian Summer this year and it doesn't turn fall right away, but either way, we will have a great time. It will be a "weather shock" for Pam though, coming from Florida with the heat and humidity up here where we don't have the humidity and heat is not an issue. I want to show her some of the cool places around here. It will be fun. Gonna finally meet my "little sis."

Thats not a bad airport.
I am all excited about this trip. I think I will go swim for a bit. Hmm if I go to the west clubhouse pool I can work on the library. If I go to the east clubhouse pool I can pick up the mail that I haven't gotten for a few days. Decisions decisions............ |

I'm hoping to make it back up to Washington state in a couple weeks to see my baby girl graduate from college, and see a son and friends I left behind last summer. Will return for a 2nd trip late Sept. to welcome my FIRST grandbaby, "Amelia", into the world. I'll be in the opposite corner or the state though...WALLA WALLA!
Victoria is beautiful (((((Pam))))))! I took the ferry, (named the Walla Walla! ), once from Seattle. Captured some gorgeous photos up there. I'm so anxious to see the color GREEN again! |

I wish you were going to be in the same area as us (((((CINDY)))))
