Have you noticed that most of us say they want a mate with a sense of humor and all of us claim to have a good sense of humor. What does that mean to you? Does your new hottie need to take a pie in the face?

In fact, do you think his/her humor sucks, is juevenile or plain stupid?drool

Oh....if you can't make me laugh, there is no point. You have to have fun in life and anyone that can make me laugh til my ribs hurt is fine in my book

Typically, when it comes to the menfolk, I dont expect them to "do anything for me." They dont have to make me laugh. Its up to me to entertain myself. I probably would do just as well with a stoic introvert. I dont require a full time stand up comedian occupying a space in my bed. bigsmile

I agree with you! I have met funny people who have a great sense of humor, but put us in a room together and it doesn't work, we don't get each others jokes funny anecdotes. I have had this one friend and we did not stop throwing out the one liners. If he mentioned anything, we could take it on a 30 minute tangent and just laugh our arses off . Each story would roll into another and another....

It's ironic that this Q would show up this morn.in the forums.I have a tendency to tread lightly now in this area for humor is subjective such as many topics in the forums. Here is an example.I rarely visit the games forum however I jumped into a thread yesterday & his response was [?]to my response.WTH? So now I felt I should define a word he used in his title & give an explanation to my response & of course state"no offense intended".So then I ask U where is the fun within this game thread if all that was required?Geez! I don't think I'll visit there any time soon.ohwell

Thats an interesting question. No, no pie in the face, but I have been talking to someone who has a kind of antagonistic "sense of humor". Will make a joke out of sort of upsetting tragic type things, in a teasing way,

They say that the best comedy comes out of tragedy, but Im not really of this school of thought always.. I think someone should be more careful about really controversial subjects, when they know something upsets someone, sort of really not funny. Gets old, seems insensitive.

Sometimes people joke about things they feel uncomfortable with, and its actually better to just.. kinda shut up.

I can laugh about alot of things, but I dunno... I can laugh at myself, but being made fun of is somehow not attractive.

Not such a fine line between funny, and a*shole.

My favorites were the Algonquin Round Table games like when the intellectuals misused a word in a sentence as when Gertrude Stein used horticulture. "Horticulture" she said, "you can lead a whore to culture but you can't make her think"!

Holy crap, that brings back some memories..
my buddy's wife used to get drunk and say things to him that would build up over minutes until she would outright call him a bastard or F or whatever,,,
He'd call her on it and she was "just kidding"
He got wise and started the same thing back except with a twist...
She'd get on his nerves and he'd muble get out you f'ing B and she'd come unglued and he would say, "I'm talking to the dog"

I find it much more gratifyin to be around someone who gets my sarcastic sense of humor. I was married to a man for 10 yrs that never understood it. I constantly had to explain it to him. Reckon that's what I get for marryin a "D*mn Yankee"
