Bake 8-inch pans 27 to 32 minutes, 9-inch pans 23 to 28 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. (Decrease bake time by 2 to 3 minutes if using dark or nonstick pans.) Cool 10 minutes; remove from pans. Cool completely, about 1 hour.

Fill layers with Orange-Coconut Filling. Frost side and top of cake with frosting. Sprinkle coconut over top. Store loosely covered.

Orange-Coconut Filling: Mix sugar and cornstarch in small microwavable bowl. Gradually stir in water. Stir in orange peel and orange juice. Microwave uncovered on High about 1 minute or until mixture thickens and boils; stir. Microwave 30 seconds longer, stirring every 15 seconds. Stir in coconut; cool.

Shrimp scampi fried rice

2 cups rice, cooked
1 lb shrimp
1 stick butter
2-3 cloves garlic, chopped fine (more or less, to taste)
couple tablespoons olive oil
couple tablespoons soy sauce

Take 1/2 stick butter, melt in pan over low heat, add garlic and cook til softened (do not brown, if you can help it, so cook slowly). Once garlic is cooked, add shrimp and cook til just pink. Remove shrimp from pan. Add olive oil and heat pan on med-high heat, when hot, add rice, stir a little to break up any clumps. Add soy sauce to taste and stir to mix. Let sit in pan (checking every few minutes) until rice gets brown on bottom and starts to crisp. Flip over. Add remaining butter to rice along with the shrimp, stir until butter is melted and everything is mixed up.

This makes a lot and is incredibly rich. You can stir-fry some veggies in but I usually just serve them on the side. You can also scramble an egg to add it but it's just kind of overkill

Authentic traditional European recipes on weekends, Asian cuisines on Mondays, Greek or Middle Eastern dishes on Tuesdays, American southwestern dishes on Wednesdays, South American or Latin cuisine on Thursdays, and fast food lazy do nothing but pick up the food on Fridays.

So go ahead and exploit your imagination and present the greatest recipes man has ever seen. I will most likely enjoy it.

One thing I liked about my current job is that I had the opportunity to try different cultural foods while travelling. This gives one a wider perspective of options to enjoy food and how it is prepared.

I do enjoy cooking food, but I also just want to sit back and eat at times also. I am not a big fan of washing dishes but that comes with the cooking alsolaugh

Perhaps a few questions to go with this thread if no one has recipes.

What is the easiest food to cook?

What food are you addicted to?

What is the most expensive dish you ever paid for?

What is the most unusual dish you ever tried?

What is most important when you cook food for you or the family?
