 If you were married with a family and content, even happy, but then you met your soul mate and you knew they were your soul mate, what would you do? Would you leave the life you already had or would you stay, knowing there was something better out there for you?
(If curious about this topic you should see the movie "The Bridges Of Madison County" with Meryl Streep & Clint Eastwood...it will break your heart brokenheart)

I think if I were happy, I would not leave for my fantasy.
If I were truely meant for "my soulmate" then it would have happened way before.

I walked away from my life, a 14 year relationship, everything - for the chance to be with the one person whom I have loved for almost 20 years. We decided at the last minute to remain friends only - and stay that way to this day. I long for someone to fill the void in my heart that says something is missing; I would do much for love, but I won't ever do that again. It hurt to leave behind everything, only to have lost totally in the end.

I'm going to have to borrow that one....

Why would someone leave their happiness for the unknown out of blind curiosity??? I never saw that movie, cheating isn't my thing...

Sometimes life surprises us...what if there really were more than one person out there for you? One was more of a good friend or a good husband and the other was the sweetest lover who just made you tingle all over when he touched you or even looked at you? Sometimes you have to take a step back and wonder...

But I do agree with SilverCamaroGirl and I am very sorry that her soulmate did not turn out like it should have. Sometimes it isn't what it looks like, but other times it is. Both are definitely something to consider.

If the world followed movies...I would be in Never Never Land. But luckily for me, it isn't...so I'm stuck in sunny paradise known as Joliet, Illinois...glorious...

If I'm happy there is no reason to wonder what's out there.. If I'm not happy then I would wonder... I don't find anything to think about.. To me if enough people think like that then why bother with relationships if they're just going to go with the next curiosity....

there are many many soulmates among the 7 Billion people currently on earth. if one were only really compatible with 1% there could still be 70 million soulmates just for them!

laugh

only the individuals involved can really decide if their marriage/relationship was a mistake and if their family would be better off calling it quits. certainly there are often situations in which divorce is the best answer. but often it is not.

You know 70 million is still a shot in the dark, right? The population of the United States alone is around 300 million, add in the population of Canada, and the UK. A lot of water to waded for something that is ultimately just a figment of one's imagination...

That's kinda illogical to me If I'm married and have kids, I would have found my soulmate, the mother of my children, my wife.

You know 70 million is still a shot in the dark, right? The population of the United States alone is around 15 million, add in the population of Canada, and the UK...and you roughly have half of 70 million. A lot of water to waded for something that is ultimately just a figment of one's imagination...

15 million...which US are you talking about? there's 300 million....ya goose! We have a population of 30 million here in Australia.

The book was much better than the movie. People leave relationships every day for greener pastures. It does not always work out once they get there.

Dammit, I still have the figure for the number of Mexican immigrants that were allowed to stay in my head...you're right it is 300 million. I was only about 20 million off.laugh laugh
