I hunt. When I was young, my family lived off what my grandfather and father could catch/shoot, and I grew up on wild game. I have had people accuse me of cruelty, and do so while happily munching a hamburger or steak huh I've given up arguing with them, because I'll never convince them that I'm not the stereotypical beer drinking psycho in a tree stand shooting at anything that moves.

The state I come from (WI) had such an over population of deer that for a few years they handed out "bonus" deer tags every day of hunting season, and even extended the season for 10 days. The state didn't have much in the way of natural predators to thin the herd "naturally", so the DNR depended on the hunters.

Before Chronic Wasting Disease, we would fill our extra tags and donate the deer to our local food pantry. They had a processing plant that processed the meat for them and tanned the hides for blankets, moccasins and other needs for the homeless. Now they won't take the meat (for good reason), so people are filling less tags, and the herd is growing out of control again.

No they don't. I nearly got shot by a lunatic who had bought into that stereotype. Was up in my stand, he was on our property and decided to shoot uphill without checking first. He hit the tree about 7" above my head.

I have NEVER come down from a stand so fast in my life!

Not using any animal products endangers the environment.

Faux leather for instance is produced from petroleum.

It doesn't degrade in the environment easily...you are wearing plastic bags.

I know it's not fashionable to say this but...you are not helping the world...

I have many, many friends who are the same way..I really beleive you are talking about a slim minority...JMO You wouldnt beleive the crap we clean up!!! Not from any hunters!!!!

Again food supply cant substain the heard....Look at the cost to Insurance companies when they tangle with cars...

I respect your opinion and am glad you respect mine..In every aspect of life you have a minority of people that that just dont care..Have you been in the woods lately? What a freakin mess...You wouldnt beleive what people just throw out with no regard for the land, wildlife, or people...

I for one am glad hunters take pride in the land and clean up what others have trashed....drinker

Yeh, people are filthy and it's getting worse. Trying to keep some of the property clean alone is a no-win battle. Texas used to be known for it's no litter roads, highways, but in the past 18 years that's gotten way worse.

I have no problem with hunting. If I would have stayed with my father and not moved in with my mother around 13, I probably would hunt today. Around 6-7 years old, I was shooting targets with a 22 off sandbags. Animals that are hunted are generally killed in a more humane way than those animals that are penned/boxed/herded and slaughtered at slaughter houses.

Slaughterhouses are ugly, maddening, and overall....sick! They are terrible. The animals suffer greatly for people. They are not killed clean. They are injured, scared and a mess by the time they actually die. Sometimes they are not dead before thay begin the process. An ugly thing.

I am not prohunt...but....if one uses that as their only means of meat and used the kill for all the purposes they should be used for; then ok. I can't stand to see heads of animals on walls. It is wrong. People kill for pleaseure and that is wrong. It should be necessity, not pleasure.

So, have you worked in a packing plant?

So, have you worked in a packing plant?

A friend of mine did. He told me stories that I do not care to repeat. It made me sick. It made him sick. He quit after it got to him. I can name a few plants where I am from...and they are nasty. People only take care of the rules when some are not looking. My friend was a whistle blower of sorts when he witnessed things not legal in them.

Gotta go for now. Will be back.
