Well If I work hard and have money to spend on whatever im interested in buying its my business. If a guy has a problem with that and judges me for being materialistic then he never really understood what I am all about to begin with.

Life isnt about possessions but it also does not mean that I shouldnt buy something just because someone else wont approve of it. I am here to make myself happy first and foremost and for my family and friends. Its rare that a man would complain about someone who is self sufficient has her own home, vehicle, possessions and does not require a man to provide those things.

I can and do provide for myself, and am there for the friends who deserve it and are there for me at a moments notice. I am not rich but comfortable and having some security in this world is priceless.
Waving my American Flag cause I have the freedom to choose because of our founding fathers!!flowerforyou

I don't think the OP's complaint was based on the multitudes of women who actually get the stuff they want on their own.

I think he was referring to the " you happen to be with me and you should feel very lucky to be with me now buy me lots of stuff cuz you owe me for being with you when you aren't really what I want and I am just taking advantage of you for whatever I can get out of you " women.

It's rather unfortunate, but there are an awful lot of women who feel that they are entitled to all the nice things in life, but have never been taught that they actually need to DO something to get them.

Guy he shouldn't have generalized American women... I'll rip apart an American guy that does that let alone an non-American...

Oh I totally agree.

My only point was that some of the posts I read in here seem to have misunderstood the original ( even if slightly misguided ) intent of the post.

You know me. If some chick says that " all guys " do something or another...I'll give her a nice polite shredding.

I figured I would give this guy a bit of a pass since it appears that English isn't his first language.

Besides. You ladies took care of things pretty well...lolflowerforyou

You know I loves ya... And that is my main objection.. English is NOT his first language, therefore he should not be judging American or English women....

But look at it this way. He may have just used the wrong word to express his intent.

I haven't bothered to look at his profile, so I don't know if he is actually IN a foreign country or not.

He may have had a few bad experiences with American women who were visiting the country he's in.

Everyone knows the phrase " One bad apple will spoil the whole lot ".

It could be a case of his having run into a few " bad apples " and when he tried to state something about it, his phrasing was off because of his lack of knowledge of the English language.

Either way...you are right in saying that he shouldn't have generalized all American women in that way. Hell. If ALL American women were materialistic, I would NEVER get a date....lol

Also keep this in mind. Everyone judges everyone in one way or another. It may be misguided or misplaced, even flat out wrong, but everyone gets an impression of people and bases their judgment of them on their impressions until they are shown otherwise.

I think you and the other ladies in here did a very good job of letting him know that his impression, and therefore his judgment, of American women was way off base.flowerforyou

We were fine unil he outright insulted us, that was when we jumped. I can also see his point of some women being that way, as are some men, but to just come out and say we are all that way, in an overbearing and judgemental way, then to try to provoke things into a fight? That was the wrong way to go about it if he was just trying to discuss it, it seemed as if it was out of undue hostility.

She's right Guy.. He did try to egg us on... Of course he left when we confronted him, as most do.. It's so funny how people will make statements, try hostility to back themselves up and then run under mommy's skirt when they realize they can't win...

But yes you are reasonable and kind....

It may well have been. But how often do we see that around here???? Some dude, all pissed off about some chick treating him badly decides to take it out on the entire female population...

He could have been overtly hostile, or he could have come off that way because of a lack of writing ability in English.

: shrugs :

When I first came here, I was the ultimate bitter dude. Many people noticed it, but I rarely got jumped on for it because I was able to express what I wanted to say pretty well. At least I think I did.

He may not have that ability and, therefore, sounds overbearing or judgmental because of it.

Like I said. I agree with you ladies in that he shouldn't have said " all American women ".

Dudes like that just haven't had opportunity to come across many women who can actually speak their minds and cut the guy to shreds.

I kinda get a giggle when I see dudes turn tail and run like that.bigsmile

Look at our economy...

Give anyone and inch and they try to run the mile.

The whole thing is sheep look for greener pastures, wolves look for fatter sheep. Worst is how the two can't do without one another yet both sides hate each other.

It goes like this for me at least, Appearances do matter but how that is applied is all speculative. I like women who have no need for makeup and can just put on a hot number and just her smile alone is enough to carry past any minor flaws she may have. Women who need cosmetic surgery every two years for a better word sicken me. That is vanity run completely away with someone. How many real women think Michael Jackson is sexy? I remember when he was a black kid in the 1970s. Now he is a mutant!

Another yard stick I hold against others is how they stand up for themselves in life. If she is pulling her financial weight that is a plus in my favor. Being rich is nice but what if she is a total control hungry manipulative witch sent from hell itself? Some guys actually will suck up to women like that just to get at that money.

In general people suck. It is the individuals among the masses that make the difference. Some are good and are utterly evil. The rest of us are stuck between  & pitchfork ...

Wow....
I can see where a guy from a developing country would consider us materialistic...Americans consume most of the world product and dude just wants a date.
I like a good shredding just like anyone else but I don't know if this one deserved to be chopped up and thrown to Bubba like that.
Enter JustAGuy.....now that's a man drinker

Don't talk about American girls, especially lumping them all together... SOME women are materialistic, SOME are not... As you can see I left out the word AMERICAN b/c to lay it all on us is BS...

I couldn't agree with you more, Princess! drinker

Blanket statements about anything is very close-minded and a bad idea in general.

I will see your 'SOME women' and raise to 'SOME PEOPLE' .... winking

Wow we have some smart women on this site.
OP We women of today work as hard and even harder than SOME men.
The days of having a man provide for us are all but over.
I am NOT materialistic but I love that what I do have. I have earned for myself and am proud to have it all!
