Angel put a baby bass in her koi and goldfish pond and now a year later she wants to catch him to put smaller mosquito fish in there. Only prob is Bubba the Bass will eat them for lunch. Anyone have any ideas on how to get him out? I wanted to shoot him but Angel won't let me. Any humane ideas

Well, you could go for the good old hook line and sinker! Just wiggle a worm down in there, so to speak! That should work!

(Gawd that sounds really baddddd! laugh )

How big of a pond are we talking about?
If it's not an acre or something, ask any of your friends if they have a smelt fishing net...

Okay then I go back to my original answer then! Wiggle a worm at him...he'll take the bait!

It is time for a spring maintenance, drain the pond unless it is a monster! Also use a screen tied to two poles and use it to net his ass out like a fish weir. The only other option is hook and line. I used to have a pet LM Bass and it was pretty damn smart! Too bad you want to get him out. If the pond is a monster then you are screwed. Hook and line with bait is the only way period. Do not use Chickoree nuts! They stun fish to death! Finquel and Rotenol are dangerous to use to sedate the fish and make them too slow to get away but will affect all of the fish and you have to do a massive water change if you want your fish to survive it. If you want to be more humane about hooking him use a barbless hook but you had better keep the line tense or he will probably get away.

Been there, done that. I do ponds for a living and had to deal with foreign invasions before. My personal fave is dealing with Raccoons.
