Why put the stress and burden on yourself.. They are doctors and therapists for things like that... Unless you are medically qualified to handle a situation like that I say run, and run fast.. No need to play super hero...

Semi-been there. NO WAY! NOT EVER AGAIN! Bi Polar is no fun to be involved with!

Bi Polar can be somewhat controlled with medication. As long as you make sure they are taking their meds, it's not as bad as some might think.

However, dealing with an UNmediacated Bi Polar person is one of the worst experiences I have ever had.

Hey none of these people who have these illness choose's to have these illness anyway's.

So what if the shoe was put on your foot and you end up with there illness and then all of a sudden would your mind change any because of this ?.

I doubt it, I think if you had what they had you wouldn't feel the same way unless you people are just so cold harted and all you can't see or feel for others enough.

I am not saying you have to be in a relationship with them no.. but you shouldn't have a right to judge them because some how they end up with an illness they have no controle over but taking meds and who's to say there not taking them etc.

I wonder really what you all would say who said no you wouldn't help some one out, if you end up with what they had in that type of illness and then needed there help but they turn on you because you turned on them before you got sick.

So how would you all feel if you had what they had and you think it's so easy to deal with what they had etc.

Well said. Atleast there are a few people sensible enough to understand some things aren't chosen. Meds are always a good thing when taken properly.

Schizophrenia (pronounced /ˌskɪtsəˈfrɛniə/ or pronounced /ˌskɪtsəˈfriːniə/), from the Greek roots skhizein (σχίζειν, "to split") and phrēn, phren- (φρήν, φρεν-, "mind") is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a mental disorder characterized by abnormalities in the perception or expression of reality. Distortions in perception may affect all five senses, including sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch, but most commonly manifests as auditory hallucinations and to a lesser extent, visual hallucinations, which are typically accompanied by paranoid or bizarre delusions, or disorganized speech and thinking with significant social or occupational dysfunction.

This is not a disorder I would take a chance with....

Bi-polarism is easier to deal with most of the time, it's not often they have hallucinations... I'd try to work with that but not schizophrenia...

You really are not getting the point.

We arent saying it doesnt suck to have mental issues. We are saying mental issues suck and we dont want to choose to have them in our lives.

Ok First off sensibility has nothing to do with the question you asked nor does it matter in a person's preferences.. Secondly, not one of us even alluded to the fact that a person would choose to have an illness... We said we wouldn't want to deal with schizophrenia...

You said "interesting question" not ANSWER THIS QUESTION AND LET ME CALL JUDGE YOU BY YOUR ANSWER....

However what if the shoe was put on the other foot and you had what they had and no body wanted to be around you then.

are you honestly acusing people of not having compassion becouse they dont want to have a relationship with someone who is disabled?

even the Samaritan man didnt stick by the bed of the injured man he left him at an Inn and returned to pay the bill later.

I'm not acusing any body of noting here. It's just how it's coming out of others own mouths is all.

I don't know noting about this Samaritan Man you speak of.

Here it is. If a person has a mental disorder and is disabled because of it, would you be willing to be with them and help them out? Be honest.

I would and do- my mother is mentally-disabled (she was rendered that way after a rather serious car-on-bicycle accident a number of years ago). I've had to help her with everything from fill out various medical documentation, to driving her to doctors' appointments, to even acting as a kind of counsel when the state tried to rescind her benefits because of a clerical error on someone elses' part a while back.

If i did have a disorder, it would be horrible for me, obviously.

I do understand what its like to live with somebody with such a disorder. My brother is undiagnosed, but he has severe issues.

Well they're very different.. You can't choose your family... You can choose who you date...

That may be true. However, you can choose to help or not to help.
