When a child is yelling, you yell back at them...Someone hits you, you hit them back.....not a good way of handling the situation. Take a second and think about how you should handle a situation, not just impulsively.

It is never OK to do an evil thing, even to an evil person. To do so makes you as evil as them.

If you accept the standard anthropocentric concept of "evil," then you have a problem with your proposed scenario.

Act A is wrong (evil).
Someone committed Act A.
Therefore, I will commit Act A to them.

See the problem? You're changing the rules midstream. Act A is wrong, but it's OK to do it to someone IF they did it to someone else.

Now you may have started a chain....

In your OP, you mention stealing. So....

Stealing is wrong.
Someone has stolen.
Therefore it's OK for you to steal from them.

Again, see the problem?

Are you also saying, then, that it's OK for the next guy to steal from you, since you also committed the "evil" act? Or is it only OK to do it to the original perpetrator?

And how do you know who the original perpetrator is? How far has this chain been going before you hopped on?

This is also the root of my argument against the death penalty.

I don't like the term "evil" myself because it's too malleable and anthropocentric (and often even narrower than that) to mean much. Terrorists are "evil" -- to the ones being "terrorized." The designation depends on where one sits.

If you think it's wrong, don't do it. Apart from what ANYBODY else may or may not have done.

Bottom line here,,,

The past can not be changed and honestly, some won't even admit to the truth about it, denying what you say ever happened.
These are things you can not fix or make go away...

You are alive and have a purpose even if only for yourself.
Focus on,,,
Who you are
Who you want to be
Who you do not want to be
What purpose you can serve if only for you
Your true desired goals

You can not change someone who doesn't want to change
You can not hold accountable those who believe they are blameless

You can make a difference
You can make the environment around you better (even if only for those you care about)
You can be different from those who influenced you
You do not have to be "normal" or "average"

You need to do what allows you to live with your own conscience in peace...

If I saw someone raping someone, I'd have no problem killing the rapist. Or childmolester or what have you.
Commiting an act that is considered "evil" to stop an evil act is a good thing.
