 How many of you believe in the whole "If you love someone set them free,and if they come back they are yours" idea?  Do you think it's just words to make it easier to move on?

I think it's another one of those cliches that sounds good, or looks good on a poster with a picture of a butterfly or whatever; but as a practical matter, when I set them free, it's because I'm either bored to death, or tired of the domestication attempts, and I don't WANT them back.

I do belive it...cos if someone has to be "LET FREE"..then that must mean you were holding them agains their will...that NEVER works...trust me! I only want someone that wants and loves me. I shouldn't have to make them love me by holding on to them against their will.

It happened to me. The girl "needed" a lot and I wasn't sure she loved me or just needed me so bad she thought she loved me. (her needs were quite real) I took care of the the things that concerned her to give her some options. It turned out I was security more than anything else. we are still friends.
