:heart:How many of you believe in the whole "If you love someone set them free, and if they come back they are yours" idea?

bigsmile Do you think it's just words to make it easier to move on?bigsmile
If they leave, they should not be allowed to come back.

lol...

Maybe it should read "If you love someone set them free, then change the locks just in case they decide to come back." bigsmile

Might as well set them free becuase if they don't want to be with you and fly away, it's better than trying to hold them captive...that just ends up being miserable for everyone!

Well, tying them up in the basements works pretty good also.

Only if it's worth it to you to keep them "hanging" around. Strange entertainment maybe?noway

Actually it helps a person with their own issues. If you are codependent for instance, letting the other person go is the only way to free yourself. If you are manipulating another person into being in a relationship with you, the only way to be sure they love you after all is to let them go.

Or at least that is what I read into it.

You gotta make sure you feed them, otherwise you'll just have a big mess on your hands.

I am thinking if they want to go, they aren't in love. Just say goodbye and move forward.

Letting go of someone doesn't mean an end to the relationship. It means to let them decide for themselves which is what they should be doing anyway.

for my part, I beleve that its a nice way to say

"dont be a controling pig alow for others to take a pause to evaluate there situation."

yet I beleve this is an exilent time to evaluate if you should change the locks or if your in a codependent relationship and should seek counseling.

sigh, who new I should have changed the locks. I let her back in and she did it again. *as I dance to the masochism tango*

If things aren't right, then they should be let go anyway, whether they come back or not. It just isn't worth having to fight to keep a relationship going if it simply won't work in the end.

I think it's mostly words to help people move on... It's worked and it holds some truth... it's a good mantra...

I think.........if we love someone.......we cant hold them back....... and we shouldnt if we love them truly.

If it is reciprocated.......and they come back........is that love????? Yes and No. Some people yes and some no. Some come back because they love you. They others come back because they have no where else to go!!
