The ancient Romans would agree completely.
flowerforyou So would the Egyptian and the Mayans.flowerforyou It is the cycle of time of which you speak.bigsmile

Cycle of times like that usually ends up with many many deaths. I prefer not to be counted among those. Humans will survive this cycle I'm fairly certain of that. civilization I'm not so positive on

 Yeah:laughing:

This is what scares me. With people in complete denial of the possiblity how can we hope to over come the obsticles.

Civilizations with more power than ours have collapsed. We are not immune or invulnerable.

I don't think anyone is in complete denial, but I would prefer people focus on what is and what can be done even in small ways, rather than people spewing all sorts of things they can't prove or that really do nothing to help solve anything.

We can't always control the government but we damn well can control our immdiate surroundings, what we say, what we do about any giving circumstance. I live in a small town hit with a lot of factory closings, and it's amazing to see how people deal with that here. And they do deal with it much better than I see in the news or on Mingle it seems.

I am a firm believer that it is smaller towns and smaller businesses that will survive the best. I've just always wanted to do better than just survive. That possiblity may be taken from us by a government that is out of control.

Well I can only speak for this small town where people have been through harder times than many of us have ever experienced and they survived, but they also did not spend beyond their means, so even now they are happy and not paniced. Yes they feel the anxiety in the air because so many are contributing to that anxiety rightly or wrongly.

If you have even been through really hard times, then surviving isn't all that bad, just depends I guess on the person and what matters to them.

I still have hope and I am working toward that end. But my hope is dwindling as I see the possibilities squandered away.

I see possibilities showing up in other areas. One door closes and another opens.

I learned a lot about the Depression from my Grandmother. We're not even close to that.

I'm not that pessimistic. I don't see that at all.

I wish I could feel that way Boo. I do not think it's too late for us to get back on track but the time is rapidly approaching. I'm not one to subscribe to ancient predictions and such but I just can't help hoping all the predictions for 2012 aren't actually there and pointing to the colapse of the world economy. The possible timing isn't that far off.

Hi Davey

I guess I am just an optimistic person, but I really do not feel dooms day is coming. And I am pretty sensitive to things coming around, and feel it, but I just don't feel it. What predictions are you referring to out of curiosity?

There are numerous predictions from ancient sources, the maya's are a big one their date is pretty absolute and predicts a total change in the worlds makeup. But there are many other predictions from other cultures that point to the year 2012 as being very significant. I don't really believe in such stuff but it's hard to help thinking about it.

Well I do agree it's hard not to think about it, especially when people in this situation become paniced and or just plain fearful. I worry that people collectively make things worse by acting out when they don't really know what is going on.

I am fearful but I still try to take positive actions and work as though everything was going to work out. If it does I want to be on top  if it doesn't want to be on top too though laugh

Well you started out great than lost it in the second part.. grin! Keep the first and ditch the second thought.. lol

Act as IF.. that does work.

Actually for me in my current situation I can do pretty much the same thing and if successful end up on top... I'm such a guy laugh

Hey is all about attitude and you seem to have a pretty good attitude personally.

The Mayans didn't predict the end of the world and the whole 2012 thing is a misinterpretation of the Mayan calendar.

Actually there is a plantetary alignment that takes place only once every... 3000? years that will happen in 2012. That's why the date is so specific and known. It is the date the mayan calendar ends. Mayans believed we were ruled by the stars so it's unclear if they believed the planetary alignment would bring physical change or change within humanity.
