Yup. That sucks, all right. The worst part is that some corporate dolt out there will pocket what would be YOUR money and put it toward his golden parachute or some off-shore bank account.

holy chet... that blows big time... is that rather than be laid off? are they going to give you the money back when the economy changes... Unfortunately Prncs, that's not likely to happen- once your wages start to dip, they'll never go back up. That's what we're seeing in my line of work, for example- all these other states have been passing legislation allowing for "tax incentives" for film/tv productions to film there, which amounts to nothing more than legalized extortion. If you don't have any tax incentive program in place, then there won't be any productions to film in your state. Along with the tax incentives is the fact that the productions will often get the residents of said states to work for wages MUCH lower than anyone in L.A. would. And when you're being paid almost minimum wage to climb across a catwalk in a makeshift studio while carrying a heavy stage light, there are serious problems. In the end, the line is lowered for everyone except for the higher-ups putting on the productions, as they'll be stealing every dime they can. It just sucks all the way around.
