Have you ever been "smothered" out of a relationship?

Sometimes I feel that way now. He calls me so much. Always asking if I am okay and if everything is alright. I am by myself because I choose to be right now. I want to date him and see where it leads. He wants me to be there like a wife and I am not ready for that right now. I like my me time.

can't say that i have. on one occasion, however, i was with a boyfriend who DEMANDED that i say "i love you too" after he expressed the sentiment first. i wouldn't. he got very enraged. i stood my ground stubbornly. needless to say that didn't last much longer.

My ex husband was that way... which now sometimes causes me to run quickly away if I feel it beginning to happen again.

I have felt smothered before. Not by affection or love, but by his concept of me being his "everything" which meant i was his girlfriend, his best friend, his family, his friends, his counselor....he thought he didnt need anybody but me, even when i urged him to go out and meet new ppl and make new friends. Too much pressure....
