ear plugs, lol.

at his age, the best thing you can do is a form of positive
reinforcement. ignore the screaming, and pay extra attention when he is
quieter.

Hey connors mom-
My son did the same thing...and lulu is right do use positive
reiforcement and show him by example..
However the "root" to my sons screaming was that he was frustrated
because he had hearing loss to a degree in both ears and he was
frustrated. He couldn't hear properly and felt he wasnt being heard
either.
He had alot of ear infections due to a defect in his inner ear
which was correctable and he had scarring on his eardrums.
This info is not to scare you but in my experience the earlier this was
discovered the better it is for the child.
I took him to a hearing center and they evaluated him and once they put
tubes in his ears within two weeks not only did the screaming subside
but his speech was dramatically improved.
This made a huge difference when he started school as he was not
impaired from learning and felt more confident.

Mind you this is just telling you my experience and it may not be the
case with your son. If it is tho my hope is that it is discovered early
enough to benefit you both. It could be just a phase but it never hurts
to check.

Thanks guys. I know for a fact that his hearing is fine, maybe it is
just a phase. If so, i just might have to invest in some ear plugs, lol.

I have a screamer where I work. He yells constantly and won't use the
call light. So far we have lost one aide because of him. He can really
challenge your tolerance and patience, lol. We just yell back at him and
he laughs.

Have you had his ears tested, yet to see if he has a problem with
hearing?

The person I had to deal with was getting to me. My son when he was
little had cholic that made him scream. Sometimes I just have to count
to ten and remember that I am a care giver. I know mothers are care
givers, too because I work with many of them. Every time when of the
women finds something that works I pay attention because it helps me
with my anger management. When working with the LPN the other night she
told me you deal with him I just can't right now. She even told me that
she was glad that I was there. Our little group has learned to work
together at the home. It is hard to hand someone over to another when
you are the only one there. She has let me do the same thing when I
can't handle someone. It is like we take turns. One aide it doesn't seem
to phase. I don't think he is human at times so I am constantly asking
him how do you do that? He and his wife have been working in the
profession for 17 years and used to work in the Alzheimer's wards. He
keeps telling me that I haven't seen anything, yet.laugh

Piercing screams that shatter the spine and run up to pop the top of my
head off, LMAO!
Have pics of her with mouth wide, too.laugh

complete side note:

my daughter went through seven hearing tests, six in three years...

anyhow, she passed them all with only a "slight conductive hearing
loss"...because they were testing her ear drums. turns out, her problem
is more rare...her deafness is on the neural level...and she shouldn't
be able to even speak straight, as she has an 85 decibel hearing loss.

she was eight before she was finally diagnosed...and that's after i
pushed and pushed and pushed...

well, perhaps if he becomes some opera singer you can guilt trip him
later in life to gibe you lots of money if he makes it big, does that
help?
