i had a friend who did drugs with his mom... he's in prison now eighteen to life

O believe me I have given this some serious thought, it's not like I do this on a consistent basis, I said one time, like the other guy said, people are going to smoke regardless of who they do it with...the fact he did drugs and it sounds like they did other stuff, did not put him in jail, he prob did other stuff too, right?

He is over 18 making his own decisions...you: an occasional smoker and don't have any personal moral issues with it.

Why do the "dishonest' dance with those closest to you.

I find no problem with it whatsoever! It might even be a good opportunity to address the pitfalls of excessive use.

We all know by now that "just saying no" creates the taboo and rebelious instinct. Why NOT approach with mature temperment showing that you trust your son to make wise and moderate decisions.smokin

I dont judge... it is not my place... that is ONE persons job not any of ours!!! BUT my opinion is to each his own... my son is 17... we live in a town that drugs run rampant & I try to teach him NOT to do drugs although I know he does smoke I dont do it myself & wouldnt do it with him but my family members have smoked with him. It is all in how you want your relationship to be with your son... choose for yourself & dont let anyone judge you... they all have thier demons!

I have no use for pot, never have... Alcohol is fine within limitations and if kept there it will not hurt you... Prescription pills that are supposed to help you actually end up hurting you in other ways... So is there really an answer?

Coz, please tell me where your research was found to back up pot vs. alcohol and are you talking moderate use or abuse?

well i researched pot for 14 years, alcohol for 12 and meth for 6.never researched pills but know plenty who have.all are worse then pot.yes i'm considered an expert by any therapist, counselor our cop.

Wow, that's pretty impressive......I don't like the taste of alcohol,so I get a little relief sometimes from pot, that is really the extent of it...get my buzz and I am good for about 6 months

Well I commend you on your career and being clean... My point is that studies and writings are often geared toward the desired outcome and why I research multiple, multiple avenues before coming to a conclusion.. Being a drinker certainly doesn't make me an expert but were I to state I were I would definitely have enough backup to counter any comments or questions...

Hey, I was introduced to it coming off of Ritalin (REALLY DINOSAUR SLAYING DOSES OF IT MIND YOU! Thank you DOCTOR!) cold turkey. I was 15 and it stabilized me where Ritalin fuqued me up.

As long as her kid is doing right by her what are anyone of you to criticize her about morality? if he is in school and maintain passing grades, not out getting into trouble, and planning a future for himself like going to college then WTF?

Now if it was Vallium, Meth, etc that would be different and please don't hand me padded logic on this. You can't keep a kid from smoking cigarettes if they want to. Now if the kid is a screw up with no future then bad mommy but this does not sound like a Jerry Springer mother here.

Kids grow up faster than many give them credit for!

Besides, what makes the "Happy" pills doctors force people to take under some assumption that they are helping when said people are freaking out on them?

High School these days is a brain draining experience. I feel sorry for High School kids.

The kid is 19 past legal adult.. I personally don't care what a person does with their child that's of legal age, both should be smart enough to know what they're doing... I would care if it were an underage child good grades or not...

smoke some weed with your teenage son?

I think so. Parents are not supposed to be friends, they are supposed to be parents.

Well back in the day when I drank, I had a few drinks with my parents.
Everybody was over the legal age.
Granted some of us had substance abuse issues with drinking.
I didn't get to smoke weed with my parents, but they both tried it a few times.

If no one has substance abuse issues and everyone is 21, to each his own.

However when you read about the violence, murder, corruption and kidnapping that is plaguing Mexico and South America, know that you are a direct participant in it.
