Topic: Does anyone use psychedelics for spiritual practice? | |
---|---|
Just wondering because Ive studied most religions and found that some actually use psychedelics to either commune with the spiritual world or have inner enlightenment threw them. Such as Dimethyltryptamine which is also called dmt or Ayahuasca.

in true form, they're not supposed to. one can go out of body without them if one concentrates, and focuses on what they want.

Native Americans use Peyote for Spirit Walks and if you are really interested in participating you can go to Arizona and go through the whole ceremony.
The use of hallucinogens was wide spread throughout history and across continents. In South America many tribes use a variety of hallucinogens to talk to and commune with ancestors and spirits as well as to fight demons. The appalling thing is the ignorance to the spiritual purposes of hallucinogens to expand the consciousness in western thinking. If a religion does not involve praying to Jesus or involving Jesus it is heathenism. Even ancient Celtic tribes used hallucinogens for religious rites. The Maori and several other Polynesian tribes as well as some South American Head hunters would get doped up on hallucinogens before going into combat. Not feeling pain was an asset in fighting. It also made them very fearless. Most of the time the hallucinogens were derived from Mushrooms, cacti, certain plants, and tree barks. On an odd side note did you know Aspirin originally was derived from Willow Bark? |

I prefer not to use psychadelics, even natural ones. I've seen too many people over-use adn abuse them. Try learning from the Complete Idiots Guide to Meditation, which attempts to teach the reader to live meditatively at all times, or Awakening Spirits by Tom Brown, Jr. He refers to meditation (real, constant meditation, not just once in a while) as state of being adn awareness and spirituality on all levels through-out your every-day life. He was taught by one of the last non-reservation Apache back in the 1960's, he has written several books on what he has learned, and also has a school dedicated to teaching these and other skills. Not as easy, but better in the long run.

the expansion of consciousness is a dangerous step if one is not prepared.L S D got a bad rap because people were not ready to have certain doors opened in there minds and could not cope with self revelation.in the sixtys we stepped into and out of its use cause once the doors are open it serves no purpose.we read books and search outwardly for understanding and wisdom when it is already within us.the great spiritual teachers throughout history were made of the same spiritual stuff we are, they simply had nothing more as we do.think about it,the greatest truths are always the simplest.less is more....interesting factoid:L S D was first synthisised by the C I A...peace...
