Yes even if one doesn't consume meat anymore we can save on energy, pollution, etc. etc.

Imagine if the whole world can become vegetarians. It is said that there would be no starvation in this world anymore if our fields would only be for vegetables, grains, and fruit.

but will the population do it? No, because the majority enjoy eating meat.

It is also true that Americans in general eat alot of junk food and huge dishes of food enough to feed two people each time. It is not healthy and the reason why so many are obese in this country.

yet I think that the FDA wants people fat so they can push their drugs over to them promising they will lose weight if taking them. Afterall, in my opinion the FDA is one of the biggest criminals of the world pushing 1.2 trillion dollars in profits every quarter.

They don't want you healthy. They want you sick dependent on drugs to survive. It is a big business!

but posting this article only brings injustices to the majority of Americas. Such a change of lifestyle and mind requires much energy and willpower. Something that most will not do and instead refute the article and criticize instead. Afterall criticizing requires less energy and who can deny a good taste of a grilled steak, jelly donuts, or even some gravy on those mashed potatoes.

It is America's sickness that will never end.

Humans are omnivores. This means we require both meat and vegetables. The required portions of these foods vary upon to location and genes.

Unfortunately we would most likely suffer from malnutrition if we all became vegitarians. And I don't see much help coming from the FDA on that one...

While it is true that we are omnivores, I would have to disagree that one needs meat to live a healthy life.

I have been a vegetarian for the longest time and am a healthy strong man of 200 pounds with no side affects. lol

One can live a healthy life without eating meat.

If the world can do it, I am convinced that I won't see it in my lifetime, yet I don't think the world would get sick or die of starvation if they aren't exposed to meat.

There are many ways to get protein in your diet without having to eat another living thing.

Actually you would live a healthier life if one doesn't eat alot or any meat in their diet.

We have pointed teeth to rip the flesh off of animals.Mmmmmmm I feel like a nice juicy steak right now!

Vegatarians also are the worst in bed.

See? Of course, I am drinker too! I don't want to tell you what to do. That would only make you want to tell me what to do.

Now, as long as we don't want to do anything about what the other one does, what is the point of this debate?

Whatever the result might be, we must not make others do what we think is right. This is the key of the peace.

Oh yes I am a great advocate of peace myself being a humantarian for almost half of my life, I know the essential of the importance of peaceful coexistence.

I hope by no means I was advocating in my posts what one should do? I was just answering in my opinion the post that was sent forth by the poster.

In the end I am sure concerning this issue there will be many opinions and ideas.

And actually 'they' say that if everyone in the country at once started eating their minimum 3 servings of daily fruits and veggies, we wouldn't have enough. We would simply run out. That should tell you how many people don't actually eat fruit and veggies on a daily basis.

I even seen commercials here in the states indicating we have to eat 5 times a day fruits and vegetables!

Afterwords they show how you have to eat these pills to keep up with such a demand. laugh

Everyone to their own I figure. drinker

I think we are both right and wrong on this argument. The thing is meat has essential vitamins andminerals we can't find in veggies.

But, some people can be perfectly healthy without them. Just like certain people can't be without meat. Everyone is different. There are artificial supplements that can counter this though. It wouldn't be perfect, but it could work.

It is hard to say you would be healthier not eating meat. But people have a tendancy to overendulge in it. It is possible for certain people to be healthier eating mostly meat. It all depends on how our families evolved.

Oh yes the whole family stays away from meat and everyone is at its healthiest. No complaints here.

We have a well balanced diet, but also enjoy sweets occassionally. lol

Although we do eat cheese, we don't drink cows milk. We drink soymilk instead.

We also eat foods without unneccessary additives such as high fructose corn syrup, pesticides, and so forth.

Pretty much all organic over here.

If you to remember that organic foods are much more common in our country then here. We just go to the market and buy it fresh each morning. Here in the states we have to go to Wild Oats to buy our food.

It is sad that organic food costs more then food with all those pesticides, etc.etc in them. I know the reasons, but that is a big subject for itself.

I was, responding to this:

by Jill298:
I just think about the amount of food, especially produce that is thrown away by grocery stores around the country on a daily basis because people don't alway buy what they have. Or how about all the buffet resteraunts? People are out there starving to death and we constantly throw food out to the trash.

However, I have seen food thrown out myself, and therefore, I can say that again, the food is being thrown out, it is true.

Now, when they donate it, it is the same as throwing it out, economically speaking. It makes no difference.

I, personally, "donate" every day. Some of my "donations" are taken by those who wants them, and some are left unwanted.

So, then, what was the point?

Winx's photo

Eating and living healthy is a choice each and everyone makes.

We also do alot of sports. Although I can't do the sports like I use to because I have a weak leg, I still do what I can.

I have lost my knee cap and had one replaced from a gun shot a long time ago.

but that doesn't stop me from trying to stay in shape to the best of my ability. I like to swim alot at the ocean over here.

We eat healthy at my house too. But..I serve mostly turkey, chicken, and fish for dinner. I have a carb, a protein, fruit and veggie with most meals. I have a growing child that does sports and I try to keep the meals as healthy as I am able. I even figure out fast energy carbs and complex carbs. before track meets.laugh

Oh I am fine. I was shot during my service as a red cross worker in congo by guerilla fighters. They wanted my truck of supplies. I was lucky to get away and survive the ordeal. This happened awhile back. It is not a recent event or anything.

In the end, I was taken good care.

I just am not the sportster I use to be. It was a great pass time activity at one time.

Now I do mellow activities like swimming in the ocean. It is good for all muscles.

I never heard that a family needs to have meat to live healthy, but if you claim that to be true then so be it. I know that those who do become vegetarians either at a later age or from birth on live great lives with all the neccesseties needed to keep a vital and healthy body.

We actually get all the minerals, vitamins, carbohydrates, and protein from vegetables and fruits, beans, soy, cheese, etc. etc. that we enjoy each day.

As my father and mother were vegetarians, I became one and now my family are vegetarians and are happy with the results.

We are often asked if we are healthy, lol and it seems to amaze people that we tell them we are. Some even have their doubts or get upset that we don't eat meat. My body just doesn't enjoy meat and just the thought of slaughtering animals to feed us is out of the question.

We just have a different idealogy on it then many people around the world have. Everyone to their own I say.

I always say that if you want to come to my house, you will have to enjoy a day without meat. Everyone thus far who did come, feel good afterwords when they leave and are amazed at the many delicious dishes we can create that are enjoyeable.
