"I can make a firm pledge," he said in Dover, N.H., on Sept. 12. "Under my plan, no family making less than $250,000 a year will see any form of tax increase. Not your income tax, not your payroll tax, not your capital gains taxes, not any of your taxes."

He repeatedly vowed "you will not see any of your taxes increase one single dime."

Now in office, Obama, who stopped smoking but has admitted he slips now and then, signed a law raising the tobacco tax nearly 62 cents on a pack of cigarettes, to $1.01. Other tobacco products saw similarly steep increases.

Fanta if you like taxes so much you can always send as much as you want to the Federal government anytime you want. The rest of us would like to have at least one year where our taxes are not growing by leaps and bounds from everything from energy to gas taxes.

Your taxes havent increased one iota!

This year they have decreased in fact!

If you make less than 250,000 a year they are scheduled to decrease even more.
If you make more than that they arent scheduled to increase until the economy recovers on a firmer foot!
Eventually they will though if you make more than 250,000 a year.

come to my state and see what our governer is doing and tell me my taxes arent going up

maybe the numbers arent what you would think they should be because the people who pay taxes and are going to get the shaft were working hard so they can make more to give to those who wont work and want everything givin to them

I think the smokers would disagree with you.I also wasn't just talking about Federal taxes.I am also talking about state and local taxes. You are also dreaming if you don't think Obama is going to raise taxes by huge increases this year.

Obama doesnt control my state taxes.
You people dont even know the facts.
How the hell do you decide on a reasonable protest!

laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh laugh

Wow for someone who claims to know politics you amaze me.You know how many state laws have to go through the senate and house to get passed?

 I don't know and i don't care if Fox News did organize The Tea Parties. After all,the other news networks did coddle the current President through the entire election turnabout is fair play i just think it's great that the average American citizen can go out and protest and express their dissatisfaction with "The System" in a non-violent way be seeing you

You should protest the corrupt Republican Party and Fox news.
If you don't then you are just willing pawns to their robbing Americans out of control of our Gov!

Sheeple!
 first of all i am not a sheep,i am a free man and it is both parties and big buisness who are robbing the American public and that is what the people were protesting today be seeing you

Blah, blah, blah!
Typical Republican Rhetoric! LOL!

We've already established that the increased tobacco tax was conceived during the Bush era, and that it isnt a payroll or capital gains tax, or that it doesnt affect everyone.
And that its for a good cause.
If you dont like it quit smoking!

That is the biggest cop out I have ever heard.Obama raises the taxes and you are blaming it on the Republicans???What part of "Obama signed the bill" don't you understand?Of course you can always blame Bush since I am sure Bush is probably still in the white house talking to Obama in his sleep and telling him what to do.

If you can't handle reality and facts I got some ocean front property in Wyoming I can sell you.Really cheap too!

At least you had a good knowledge of what the protests were supposed to be about TJN!drinker

Most people had no working knowledge at all!

I know a Husband and wife who were going posed as a news team. They were going to ask some open ended questions of the protesters to see what kind of asinine responses they would get!

When I find out the answers I'll post them!
It should be good!laugh laugh laugh
