huh Just curious as to why all the people speaking at these events are republican politicians and spokesmen?huh Nothing wrong with that but I thought it was a "grassroots" event.huh

Because it was financed and organized by the Republican Party!
There was nothing grassroots about it!drinker
 It was financed and organized by Newt Gingrich. He is planning on running for president in the next presidential election.

Here is what really bothers me about this tea party nonsense.

They are full of people who have no idea how government functions.

I watched some interviews with local attendees and have read comments from folks all over the country.

The majority of them haven't the slightest idea how government functions. Heck...I'd buy an intelligent conversation about the legality of our current method of taxation...but these people can't even pony up that argument. Unless you get a mouth piece out there haha

(I am sure someone will post a nifty argument and challenge me to respond...haha)

Do you know what made this country great? Discourse, negotiation, education, exploration...oh never mind...this post is a waste...

Put the hook in your mouth

I Was at a Protest in PHX a Couple of Years ago and the Big networks were there, (an anti Immigration rally) and the CNN Reporter would talk to People then Pick those who Made Outrageous Statements who Could Not Explain why they Felt the Way they Do and Those People were Shown on CNN. I'm Sure What ever "News" You Watch is Going to Put people on air to Help their Agenda.

what I gave up on this topic part way through page three.

I am totally confused by the discussion. When I first heard about the tea party protests, it was in an article by a conservative. The basic gist of the discussion was that a bunch of people unhappy with the proposed tax increases and the out of control spending were going to protest.

I assumed that it was conservative or libertarian groups leading the protests. Was someone claiming that conservatives and libertarians were not the ones complaining about taxes?

In Atlanta, thousands of people gathered outside the Capitol, where Fox News Channel conservative pundit Sean Hannity broadcast his show Wednesday night. One protester's sign read: "Hey Obama you can keep the change."

One of his guests was Samuel "Joe the Plumber" Wurzelbacher, who made news during the presidential campaign when he asked Barack Obama about taxes. The crowd cheered many of Hannity's stances against higher taxes and moves by the Obama administration so far.

Julie Reeves, of Covington, brought her Chihuahua, Arnie, who wore a tiny anti-IRS T-shirt. "I want the government to get its hand the hell out of my wallet," Reeves said.

The tea parties were promoted by FreedomWorks, a conservative nonprofit advocacy group based in Washington and led by former Republican House Majority Leader **** Armey of Texas, who is now a lobbyist.
