Yes I did, a peke-a-poo named Cricket.
She waited for me to get home to die. I had just decided that morning I would have to take her to the vet and get her put down, she could hardly stand up when we woke up. When I got home, I found her laying under the kitchen table. When I patted her, I could hear her sigh, as if to say, 'it's okay now, you are here, and I trust you to take care of me and I can let go', and I just kept patting her and telling her I loved her until she died. It was years before I could even walk into a pet store. |

Yep...
Why we love those fuzzy little critters is beyond me when we KNOW we will be brokenhearted. Hugs, Jas! |

Several, unfortunately, it is part of life, but those pets I chose to love, gave me so much more, than, I could express in words.

Yes, several. It is heart-wrenching every time. Just had to take Buttercup in for surgery for kidney stones. Thought we were just goin in for bladder infection and antibiotics. Ripped my heart out to leave her there for surgery.
I know too well what you're goin through. My heart goes out to you and your furbaby |

I'm 49 and always have had animals so have been through that a few times. Sad. I've saved a few too, the one I have now, for one.

Jasmine, it's not easy to lose a friend, confidant, companion who's been there for u. Treasure what time u have if any. Do whatever kind of rememberance u need to do. Know that with time it will get better. It's been 4yrs now and I think I'm finally ready to get another St.Bernard. There isn't one that will ever replace Chloe, just as no other dog will ever replace yours. But when you're ready you'll find another to come into your life and take your heart.

Had a tuxedo cat named "Sweetie". When she was 7 wks old she had to have surgery on her intestine for a blockage. She was only given 50% chance of coming out of the anethesia..She did and lived 17 yrs before I she had to be put down..I held her the whole time, telling her that I loved her..Still brings tears when I think of it...

Yes, I had a beautiful calico cat who followed me around like a puppy. Her name was Tori (Queen Victoria). Anytime I was on the computer, so was she--sitting on top of the monitor "surfing" right along with me. She got into something toxic in our neighborhood. The vet didn't know what it was but he suggested I euthanize her. She had gone blind immediately and had stopped eating. I couldn't say goodbye yet. So he suggested I tried to feed her with a syringe. I did for several days, but she just couldn't eat enough and she got weaker and weaker. It broke my heart to euthanize her, but she let me know, in her own way, that it was ok. She's buried in my gardens under some cannas she loved to sleep under.
My Sam (a samoyed) is 11 yrs old. I'm already dreading saying goodbye to him. Losing him will be like losing a husband I think. I've already thought about it and the day after I bury him, I'll be at the animal shelter looking for another dog. No one will replace him, but some furry creature will help ease the ache. |
