how many times have you really needed your cell phone for a true life or death couldn't wait till you got home or to the office phone call; versus idle chit chat what's for supper, what time does the party start, what are you wearing type of call?

In the last three years? I'd have to say at least 7 times. Then again, my life is anything but dull.

Nothing life or death, but i am medical and i get a lot of calls for work. My folks are not in great health and i always worry when they call. My daughter is a driver and my son will soon be, so i do cautiously think about things.

The thing about emergencies is they often pop up just when you least expect them. For this reason I carry a cell phone--a pay as you go phone, so I don't have a monthly bill. I only turn the phone on when I travel and when I do my morning walks. It's for MY use and I don't give my number out to non-crucial individuals. I don't like chatting on phones so most people who know me just drop by to talk; they don't call me. I honestly don't remember the last time I talked on my cell phone. It was probably to ask someone directions to their location.

Well, I had to call mom the other week to let her know I was going to jail. The cops wouldn't let me use theirs. Other than that, I don't really care for talking on the phone just for the sake of talking on the phone, nor can I remember that long ago to know whether I really needed it or not.
...and true life or death situations, I don't think ever. After I crashed my motorcycle last year and people thought I might die, they had their own phones to call the ambulance. |
