Traverse City is my adopted home. I've been here for more than twenty years and plan on staying. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. I think I could imagine living somewhere else .. especially about Feb. I am thinking mid Nov. |

Just in case no one has said this; welcome to Traverse City!! It is a lovely place to live even from Nov. through March. I've lived in Fl for 12 yrs and yes, there is such a thing as too HOT and too many Hurricanes. Calif. was interesting in between the fires and quakes. I could mention a few other places, but I came back home and love this state even with its problems and the snow. At least we have water! If we do not let others take it away!
Sorry--ophs, back to T.C. If you are 30 and under you can meet people on any beach and any bar in this town. Cherry Festival is coming and you can meet tons of people! I'm not saying they are all date-able, but hang out in the evening in the Open Space by the music, and beer tent. Walk around on Front ST. Of course there is the "usual" bar scene. Now if you are closer to 40-something T.C. is not as easy to navigate in the date scene(no place is). So then you end up typing your fingers off on these date sites. Sorry to say, most people you "meet" are a long ways from T.C. Anyway this really is a great place to live. You just have to find the things that interest you and go do them, whether you have a "date" or not. If you can function as a single, alone there is a ton of stuff to do up here!! I wish you well!! |

With gas prices on the rise you DO NOT want to drive to T.C. for a date! Re-think location!

OMG, three posters from TC. Be still my beating heart.

Do T.C. singles meet at the bookstores, coffeehouses anywhere like that in town? This is for the lady who says she is "new" to T.C. It depends on your age. Can't tell that by your photo. Twenty-somethings seem to gravitate to the bookstores and coffeehouses from what I can tell. The 30-ups seem to pick the coffeeshops and Little Bo's on Front st (which is smoke-free!) Of course this is just my opinion from what I have seen in the last 6 yrs since I returned to Mich. There were 1 or 2 "Singles" clubs, but they do not always advertise their name/events or how to contact them. They seem to move their "meeting places" from restaurant/bar to wherever each month. Sorry I have forgotten both club names as this was 3 yrs. ago. At the time it seemed to me they were a bit clicky, but each person must decide what works for them. Good luck!!

I'm at Borders a couple times a week and I don't see many 20-somethings there, mostly middle-aged and older. Maybe you haven't been there in a while.

Oh yeah, some gray in the goatee. (vague description describes half the men in Michigan) |

I still think it would be cool if a bunch of us met up there just to gab. I'm there almost every Sat around 11-12 and a weekday afternoon or two about 3-4 PM. |

i'm a Katrina transplant, and i have a friend in gaylord that i knock around with, he and i go to bike shows, concerts and stuff and he recently found a girlfriend, so she knocks around with us to, but traverse city is kinda closed minded for me, and heirarchic as well, too many people trying to belong to the same groups it seems, and outcasting others, very sad......one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but cold in many aspects....very cold...strange, they change a bit during the cherry festival, but the locals complain the whole time that it's such a bother, but it brings in incredible revenue to survive those nine other months.....i wonder what the reaction would be if mardi gras came here......they like it enough from a distance, lol. a piece of my heart will always be here, for before i went to CMU, i finnished NMC 30 years ago. went to fla and nola and never came back, but for summer. ready to roll back down now....by mid summer.
oh! and hey! welcome to the forums! you'll meet some great people here, so hang around! and good luck! |

Hey owl, I know who ya talking about. TC is kinda strange thats for sure. This down would stroke if Madi Gras came here. i agree! but TC is a great town, it's just not for me, i'm too wild, and since i graduated from NMC and CMU i never looked back. 30 years ago... i think the whole town should get on these forums...the town's eyes would be forced open! and i know jeff would say hey to ya, so i'm sayin it for him, he got his injury benefits finally!!!! i was hopin to run into you to shoot the breeze one of these days! my name is vincent by the way, and hope to see ya soon! i'm on crystal lake, just inside the natl park, and quite isolated, and haven't said an audible word in three days..........i need to get out more....ya think? |
