Topic: So why is it....

I don't really see the point in complaining about how certain threads don't stick around. If you like one, put effort into keeping it going. It it goes away, it goes away.

Ye gads. Here we go again.

Do I have to explain to everyone ( not you in particular ) again that when I post something like this I am NOT " complaining "??

I stated something that I have observed, and I wondered why it happened.

It's just that simple.

I defiently have to agree with your post. I opened a thread for advise and help and bashed for saying men....so I got trashed for not say some men. It was taken that I meant all men. Then was told I was back peddling.... All I wanted was some advise on what I was saying or posting wrong to only pick up married men or ones that wanted a one nighter. I will never open another thread after that... to much bashing and idiots in this site to get a honest anything!

Well...if you have a question that you would like some honest advice on, you can either email me, or you can post the question in the Just Ask JustAGuy thread.

I answer the questions posted there to the best of my ability. I don't pull punches when someone asks for advice, though. I give them an answer, even though they may not like what I have to say.

And therein, the problem lies. Too many people only want others to post what they WANT to hear (read), not what they NEED to hear (read). They'll say they want honest answers, but when you give them exactly what they're asking for, they have the nerve to get pissed off, and then continue to whine about it.
Amen,do you want it sugar coated or right between the eyes?drinker

NO one said it had to be sugar coated.... bashing is not helping it is called being rude and very unnecessary. Saying someone is a slut is not necessary if you don't know the anything about them.... Its called having tact and if you can't add to the thread without being a crued idiot then just keep your bitterness to your self!

Thank you for tell me abou the Just ask a guy.... I am still new to this dating site thing!

...that the vast majority of the time, a thread that might actually require some real thought to respond in has one of these three things happen to it?

1) It dies a quick death

2) The person making the OP is ridiculed or people that don't agree with the idea presented come in and basically ransack the thread

3) The thread gets turned into a mindless flirt fest where nothing actually gets said but a whole bunch of emoticons get used.

I have heard people say that they are " just here for fun ". If that's the case, there are thousands upon thousands of other forums out there on the web that could be used for that purpose.

I can totally understand people wanting to have fun on these forums. But why not put some actual thought into the threads that would seem to be begging for it?

But isn't there a point where people who say they want someone intelligent ( look at an awful lot of the profiles here and you'll see that word tossed about quite a bit ) actually express some intelligence in a thread that might require more than a two word answer or an emoticon???

I have seen this kind of thing happen time after time here. I can't help but wonder why that is.

I think some valid reasons for this have already been stated....short-attention spans and attention seekers.

The forums are meant to be enjoyed by all, both the 'just-for-fun' and the intelligent/serious discussions. The problem arises when the just-for-fun, flirts, attention-seekers, etc., enter the serious discussion threads and run amok, take it completely off topic so it is frustrating for folks who are actually trying to contribute the topic to even follow what's being discussed.

As well, when OP is being bashed and ridiculed for their opinion, rather than folks discussing in a respectful manner the topic, the OP often doesn't even return to the thread to keep it going.

Well...we all know that I return to the threads I start. Unless, of course, even I wind up finding them pointless...lmao

OP is tryimg to impose his seriousness and lack of a sense of humor on everyone else and is demeaning anyone who likes to make jokes. To borrow an old Hogan's Heroes' line:

"Have him shot AND sent to the Russian front".

Some people out of anything interesting to say will say squat with emoticons or just joke around.

I only care about my own response and if a serious question is ask i try to give an honest and true opinion on the subject. I have like everyone else made jokes but i try to do it only where it is required.

Also some I think and I might be wrong here just like to have their posts numbers go up so they will say squat 10000 times to look important, me would rather have one posts that says something about who I am and what i think then a million that don't mean a thing.

My humble opinion.

Is this very important? However they go it is not going to change anyone's life. Geez.... Just relax and don't worry about it. There are far more important things to get worked up about.

We all post when and how we feel like. Hopefully, none of us are robotic enough to stick precisely to the topic at all times. The reason I like the forums on this site, and not any others, is because of the latitude, idiocy, and hijinx that go on here. It is truly entertaining at times.

If I wanted serious answers to questions that are important to me, it is highly unlikely I'm going to be making the questions the subject of a thread...

I might answer a question in a way that is not to your liking. I'll surely have my reason. The reasons for how I answer a question are not uniform. Sometimes it's totally random! shocked

Forget it, dude. Here you get crucified for merely making observations. As you too all well already know. In fact, I'll probably get crucified for this post.

Wow. That statement is so full of crap that I can't even begin to contradict it.

Anyone who knows me, knows what kind of humor I am likely to bring in any given situation or conversation.

Before you try to tell everyone what I am doing, perhaps you should actually know me first.

No. I am not suffering from " ZForum Burn out ". Nor am I " worked up ", as someone else put it.

When I have a thought cross my mind that I think might make interesting forum fodder, I post it.

Obviously, it's something I should probably stop doing since doing so seems to give people a pretty low opinion of things that I say.

I agree. Non of this should be a big deal. If someone wants to be serious here, they can be serious. If someone wants to be silly, they can be silly. There are plenty of different types of threads to make everyone happy.

So. It would seem that people think that by posting what I did in the OP, that I am somehow impugning their character.

A lot of people got really defensive about what I said. Some got pretty defensive. That they chose to take that position is a choice all their own.

I just wanted to point out that I didn't name one, single, solitary name when I made that post. There weren't even any particular people I had in mind when I posted.

It was simply an observation and question that I decided to put in verbal form.

Maybe taking your medications and checking your expectations might be in order? Just an observation. Real answer? You get what you get here. No more. No less. Its 8th grade physics. For every action there's a reaction. Might not be the one you wanted or would like but just a reaction. I fart. Therefore I am.
