Topic: The Holy Trinity | |
---|---|
this is one of the things that people criticize and ridiculize about
catholics, but I'm going to try to explain how do i understand it U see the Holy Trinity is like a three colors candle, it's the same wax with different colors, but at the end is just one candle. It applies to the Holy Trinity in the same way, it's just one God with three different essences, God Father is our destination, God Son (my Lord) is the path through which we have to walk to get to the Father, and God Holy Ghost is the strenght that we need to walk through this path til we get to the FAther. |

I'm Baptist. We also believe in the Holy Trinity.
you're mistaken.
there are tons of christians, not catholics, that believe in the holy trinity. |
I think of the trinity like an egg. God the Father is the yolk at the
center. Jesus is the white that you have to pass through to get to the yolk. And the holy spirit joins the Father and Son together. |
Trinity...
The destination, the path, and the wandering spirit. |
i honestly don't compare the holy trinity to anything.
i sat there for two years, having the entire bible explained to me like a math textbook. for three years, i lost all spirituality in Christ. i'm just now realizing that it's not all black and white, it's not comparative to an egg or a candle or a three leaf clover. it's simply God. |
I apologize, several christian denomination believe in the trinity
No apology necessary. This is how we learn.
haha.
great picture, gamail. |

This is one of the concrete factors in all major religions. They all have at some place within their core a version of the trinity. Amazing truths... Although sometimes you must read a bit before you find the symbology they have buried the idea within. Each has its own symbology. |
ty Kill lol
i don't want to look at symbology anymore!
i just want to be what God wants me to be: a child. to have the faith of a child. yes, i'll study, i'll learn. but i won't base my spirit on analyses of book after book. |

AB:
That is a point that i try to point out all the time through these threads. Different religions spend years over years fighting over a few differences instead of focusing in the several similarities. |
Simularities...
And there are many. More simularities than not. |
from my understanding, though...the other religions that believe in the
trinity believe it is slightly different than we catholics. they believe in three separate entities...while we catholics see the trinity...as being three-in-one. they are ALL god...just different facets. |

Good night guys
TLW is just dead tired |
How do Catholics explain when God said "This is my son in whom I am well
pleased"? How about Jesus's prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane, was Jesus talking to himself? I'm asking honest questions, please don't take these questions as attacks. |
nite TLW.. Lulu..I see it as all the same...Jesus is God in human form
actually lulu,
i'm part of a church that believes exactly what you're describing. in fact, that's what i've heard all my life. and i was never catholic. |
spider, it's a beautiful question...and so hard to answer.
yes, it's like he was talking with himself. sort of, and yet not. it's like...different personalities, facets really... when you hold an object and look at it from one side, you may perceive it totally differently than if you looked from the reverse side, yet it's the same. we accept that it's a conundrum, and that we'll never totally understand it...and we take it on faith that they ARE the same. father, son, holy ghost...all one. |
