So...I'm recently single..no, I have been single for over a year, I've recently left a woman and am now living by myself is what I mean to say (if you understand, I hope some of you do). And I decided to go out and see what this "online" dating website stuff was all about. So I tried eHarmony. I tried Match.com. I tried this "Knoxville" Dating website. I even saw a sign at an old Kmart parking lot that said, "SINGLE? "dating.net" or something and I checked that out.

I just wanted to say that Mingle2 has been the best site I have seen and strangely enough it is free. Hmm. Strange I think. And to be honest, I would actually pay for this one. Yes, I said it. Don't get mad at me, but I would.

Here is what I think about the other ones:

Match.com...gives you like 4 days free and I swear I was on there for like 20 minutes and I DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS DOING!! So I said forget it!!

eHarmony...That was probably the best of the rest...They gave me a free weekend and now I have 4 choices. 59.95 for one month, 19.95 per month for 12 months or 2 others. Are you kidding me?! I hope I dont need to be on some site like that for 12 months!!!! And if
I need to spend 59.95 for ONE month...and know I am with somebody who cost me 59.95 I better meet her in the red light district! That is crazy!

Then that Knoxville local one....That was the worst. It was another trial period. And I was on it a for maybe a day. Get this. After I set my account up I'm like, "Okay here we go let's see whats out there...." I look at the pictures and they're all men. Hmmmmm, weird isn't it. Now I have no problem with men, theyre cool. Just not for me. So, I think to myself. Something is not right here. So I check my "account" and its set to "Male seeking Male!" I was like, I didnt do that. I must have messed up, better change it. I change it and go back next day. What do i see?! All pictures of men! Go into my account...yep...It says, "Male seeking Male." Now I have no problem with men, Like I said. But come on, that is just upsetting. So I go to the cancel myself link, click it and in the box where it says, "Why are you canceling your account?" Guess what I put? Yeah, you know it. I put, "Because it keeps saying I am a "Male seeking a Male"

Then that "SINGLE?" poster board! That was nuts. It was some weird thing where you enter your phone number and they call you! WHAT! I don't need somebody calling me and guiding me through how to meet somebody!!

So anyways...I am very happy with Mingle2. Thats my story. Thanks for listening.

May all your dreams become reality,

Another thing I like about Mingle is that its not so...."Oh my gosh! Youre on Match.com!!"....This is like a little community...ya know? ALL types of people are here.. You don't have to be "single" and looking to be here. As I see from the replies. You can be "together" and happy and still be using Mingle. Thats awesome

I have tried 15,341 dating sites, and this is the only one that has held my attention for any length of time.

The sites that don't have forums tend to be boring and simplistic -- you make a profile, read other profiles, and that's about it. The e-mails I got on most other sites were completely incomprehensible. Plus I think they were all related to the Minister of the Department of Agriculture in Nigeria or someplace.

I tried a big-time pay site for 3 months, and got tons of e-mails from local members, but nobody I would be interested in. They all wanted me to go meet them at a nearby bar. I said "You really need to read my profile." 170 of the 174 who wrote to me on that site were eliminated immediately due to not reading and/or understanding my profile. The other 4 took a day or two.

Most of the other sites I've tried don't care if their members are enjoying the site or not. I was on one site where I suddenly couldn't log in because they said I was using the wrong password. I only USE one password, so that couldn't have been the problem. I sent the site owners an e-mail and they never got back to me.

It's different here. Even when I was new, if I had a question or an issue, I could contact someone and it would always be addressed within a day. I haven't seen that happening anywhere else.

Some of the other sites that DO have forums -- well, either their forums are war zones or more boring than watching Bea Arthur pluck her eyebrows. (I've never actually seen that, I just assume that it wouldn't be very exciting.)

I love Mingle -- the only way this site could be improved is if there was actually a compatible girl here -- but you can't have everything! I even named this site on the Acknowledgments page of my second book.

Trust me, you won't be seeing me thanking eHarmony in any of my writings. Those clowns said I was unmatchable. OK, it's true, but I didn't need to hear it from them!

That is awesome. I think you are on the same page as me in a lot of ways. How can anyone be unmatchable?? Wow. Well at least you found somewhere where you "fit."

I am sure most of us has made the rounds to the different and "unusual" sites available. E harmony was the worst ever. High costs and they do not take into consideration of your preferences in a "physical" sense. So what happens is they match you with a 300 lb woman with no teeth and her feelings get hurt when you say " sorry your not my type" The one thing that they all have in common , is that they rely on you / people being honest. That's why I like Mingles you can get in the forums and get to know someone. Even if its just for fun. Good luck

It's been my experience that any of the legitimately "free" dating websites are infinitely better than any of the ones that you actually need to pay to use. I think most people who have used both feel the same; why in the world would anyone in their right mind pay to use these things?
Additionally, the paid member sites generally don't have forums, and while that's a draw for some, others may be attracted to something else. Regardless, it's still free, and that's all that matters. Myself? I'm not a big fan of the forums here, or at the other big free dating website (PoF) -they tend to attract some very uninformed and rather pedestrian posters but, hey, that's just my opinion. If I want to cruise forums, I'll check out Something Awful or Reddit: both excellent boards, btw.
In any event, yeah, free is good.

The pay ones are more interested in making money than interested in how successful their clients are.

They're still millionaires if they only scam 0.0167% of the population into paying them $20 to try something that doesn't work once.

I agree about mingle. I tried match and had to fight them. I did the free trial b/s and they charged me $60! After like 3wks of fighting they finally refunded my money but only 40. Better than nothin but will never use a pay datin service again. MINGLE IS AWESOME! Welcome and enjoy!
