A revolver is a pistol. But if push comes to shove I'd opt for a single action auto
really ? i thought that a revolver was in its own category in and of itself..surprised

That's the main reason some people shouldn't own guns. They don't know anything about them and people end up getting hurt. All handguns are pistols.
that is true but not all pistols are handguns. A pistol i always thought only took clips whereas a revolver doesn't so a revolver would therefore be a handgun

I have a glock but for some reason the next gun i get i want it to be a revolver just not sure what caliber
the colt diamondback looks cool though
but i was thinking a smith/wesson double action but i am not
sure if those come in 38 cal.

Get a S/W in 357 magnum and you can shoot 38 specials through it.
i saw my brotherinlaw shoot a 357 at the range and after watching him i would be nervous to fire one cause of its enormous kick and power! a 38 i heard is not as powerful

Naw....I am a rifle or shotgun kind of guy...my arms are too long to hold a tight grouping at even short range with any pistol.

But, even free standing I can maintain a tight pattern at 400 yards pretty easily shooting .308 or .762

But, for strict practicality...I am all about the shotgun. (Sure, 1 oz Magnum slugs are impressive...and kick like a mule)...But, the fact that you don't actually need to aim much helps alot.

good choice but hard to handle
that is what steven segal uses in his movies

Good for Steve but have you ever tried carrying around much less tried to conceal a loaded 45?

I think i would go with a revolver what about you?

Don't you mean revolver or semi-automatic? After all, a revolver IS a pistol, you know?

Anywhoo- I'm much more a semi-automatic kind of fella. I mean... wheel-guns are nice and all, but the semi-autos just get the job done much more efficiently.

I like my pump-action shotgun most of all, though. bigsmile

They are both hand guns (you hold them in your hand) and they are both pistols. One is an automatic and one is a revolver

For home defense a 12 gauge is the way to go.

No actually they are not both pistols. Look it up in the wikipedia under pistols. There is a distinction but to the commonwealth world they are synonomous. Most people would consider a revolver in a class of its own. However some people but not a lot, say that a revolver is a pistol. All my life a pistol to me was a firearm that accepted clips such as a classic .45

Personally I like the 20 gauge cause it does not have as much of a kick

What would you call a flintlock firearm that you held in your hand?

Naw Motown...for that..you break out the .54 cal blackpowder rig. You become a human cannon.

Pistol shooting ain't bad...and it definitely gets the job done....I simply am no good with pistols. My body is just too long to get the accuracy of something I can cradle close to center mass.

Yeah I aint much of a shot either but it's hard to carry a long gun in your pocket.

That is why you get a gun rack and put it in the back window of your vehicle. You can legally carry hunting rifles or shot guns that haven't been sawed off beyond 21". (Actually it is 19" but, I gotta watch out for the cops with the short tape measures.)

That's probably because you know how to handle it.
