Topic: There's no room for doubt? | |

The truth of the matter is that honesty often doesn't matter. Any time I start talking with a potential date I tell them I'm short, poor, quirky, and cranky as hell. I go out of my way to hit them with reality and most prefer to ignore it. They make up their own version of me in their fantasy addled brains. I've had that happen to me too Mitch. "NOOOOOOOOOOO, you're not fat." Ummmmmm, yes, I am! I don't get that. It is part of the online landscape. When all you have are words and photos it is soooooo easy to ignore reality and create one for yourself and everyone around you. This is why I don't do LDRs, and also why I've seen so many crash and burn right here. |

People see what they want to see, regardless of how much one tries to be honest and up front. This is why, even though I TELL the guys I talk to that I am chunky, when they see a full length picture of me, they immediately are too busy to chat, or just disappear! Online hazzard, as far as I am concerned! |

I make my date (I've only ever had one romantic, internet-inspired real-life date by the way ) watch me having a shower, via cam, so that there can be no cries of misrepresenting oneself after an actual physical meet.

Let's see.... Women wear makeup to make themselves appear prettier than they really are. Women wear high heeled shoes to make themselves appear taller than they really are. Women wear push-up bras to make their tits appear bigger than they really are. But they want an "honest man". Ironic, ain't it? Men have never worn platformed or lifts in there shoes or dark colors for a slimming affect, hmmmmmmmmmmmm. Just remember who is that invented all these items for women, hmmmmmmmmmmmm, men Ironic, ain't it?? |

Brassieres were developed over time by women. The first patent for what we actually call a bra today was obtained by a woman.

If all of this is true and men hate make up and heels etc...
then why is it you hear so many men complain that thier wives just don't care anymore? They complain cuz they don't wear make up or dresses or heels? Geezzzzz. Myself? I will dress up for occassions but, what you see is the real deal. No old pic's, some with make up and some without. I don't have to post a pic of my naked body to get attention etc.... why do men post pic's without shirts etc. ? Geez it all works both ways guy's Lets not go bashing today. It's to nice of a morning. |

You really cannot compare the lengths many women will go to enhance their appearance as opposed to most men. There are exceptions since there are very few absolutes. However, a guy like me on an average work day will take whatever clothes are on top in the drawer and first in the closet. If it is cold I might go for something a bit warmer. I'm not worrying about makeup or color coordinating or whatever. The only things I worry about are comfort and hygiene. When I'm going on a date I'll take extra time to choose my clothes and put on some cologne. That is the extent of my additional preparation. I've lived with three women and they all took MUCH MORE care, thought, and time with the external trappings of their appearance. The last one usually took a minimum of an hour and a half in the bathroom to pronounce herself ready to let the world see her. So please don't compare... Btw, men did not invent ALL THOSE ITEMS. |

well it really doesn't matter to me. Seems you want to have an arguement and it's not a subject I am passionate enough about
to ruin a day. Ya'll enjoy the bashing and don't complain when you read threads on men bashing. |
|
|

Oh, spare me! You see opposing (albeit truthful) viewpoints, and suddenly you say it's bashing? Get real. The garment known today as a bra was developed in 1905 by a WOMAN called Herminie Cadoll. It was issued with a patent in 1914 to a woman named Mary Phelps Jacob. Look it up.

Brassieres were developed over time by women. The first patent for what we actually call a bra today was obtained by a woman. we are learning so much today and it seems to have become a bit of a ping pong match. Now where's that man who said he'd do mah dishes? Right here. I'll cook and do the dishes. You just be ready when I'm done... |

Because it doesn't relate to me. It may relate to some. You're not talking about something I do so, why should I be passionate about
what other women do? We all have our reasons on why. This doesn't relate to me so ya'll have fun...... |

American society and media expect women to be 'perfect'. Unfortunately, both of those are powerful influencing agents. If you compare Canadian and American advertising, they are very different. Women are portrayed more realistically in Canadian advertising. Women are actually average sizes in Canadian advertising and aren't sugerically altered or full of make-up.
Yes, everyone is an individual and makes their own choices. However, we must recognize the influences on behavior. |

I have to concede on one point. It was a woman who invented the bra... stupid B****
Ya'll enjoy the bashing |

It's a partisan issue, not bashing.

Ok. If we are going to get into make-up, bras, heels...
Then why does anyone do any type of grooming? Hair cuts? Shave? Why do you even bother to get dressed at all? |
