depends on where you "finish" and what brand of Christian you are. i'm Roman Catholic and i know for a fact you can do all sorts of kinky shiznit as long as the the end result is an attempt at fertilization. The Church has no constraints on foreplay.
oh, and i love the fact that someone always brings up the spanish inquisition. that happened long ago and has been condemned many times. should we assume every person of german descent is a nazi as well? every Muslim is a terrorist? |

Not sex play...torturing of enemy combatants or captured members in the military service of an enemy.
Sorry, I should have been more specific in my wording but honestly had this been a sex question I would have put it in that forum. |

I too am Catholic. I'm not sure how sex came into the topic.....lol. I hope you didn't mean me, cuz I certainly didn't mean any kind of slam with my spanish inquisition fun. |

My apologies!!
I misread you. I thought you were asking if Christianity was COMPARABLE with torture. Apparently I can't read. My answer is no. |

meh. sex and religion are intertwined for me.
i think most modern Christian social and political positions are a great distortion of Christ's original message. i'm pretty sure He would frown upon infringing upon the dignity of another human life, even to save other lives. there's a difference though, between waterboarding someone on suspicion and those notorious "jack bauer moments" where they admit to having knowledge of iminent danger and won't talk. then again, i don't consider plain beating the crap out of someone one time when they're not a prisoner to be torture. i don't consider offending the religious and cultural sensitivities of someone to be torture either. that's just funny. "oh no, i have to stand naked before a woman!" hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

sex and religion are part of the same human experience to me. essentially the same topic in my mind.

As far as I'm concerned the very premise of Christianity is psychological torture.
Showing young children a picture of a crucified man and telling them that he was crucified to pay for their bad behavior is extreme emotional torture right there. And I'm not joking either. I know many people who have been emotionally tramatized by this including myself. It's a terrible thing to do to a child. It truly is emotional torture. As far as supporting the physical torture of prisoners in war, how could Christianity be used for that by any intelligent adult? Jesus taught to LOVE our enemies, and turn the other cheek. Based on that we shouldn't even be at war in the first place. Anyone who truly wants to live up to the standards that Jesus taught must just allow the enemy to come in and take over their country. You can hardly claim to be turning the other cheek if you're putting up resistance. In truth, the teachings of Jesus aren't practical in the real world. To truly follow Jesus you must be willing to be enslaved by your enemies and do nothing but turn the other cheek and love them. How many people are going to do that? |

Can Christians support torture in good conscience?
If they support torture either politically or materially out of what they feel is necessity would they ask God for forgiveness or is that unnecessary? I suppose I am asking do those who identify themselves as Christian if you support torture and if so do you believe torture is compatible with the teachings of Christ? |
