I had some minor surgery 2 weeks ago,called radio frequency.Where they go in and burn the nerve.They said it would be painful for 4 to 6 weeks.They gave me pain pills,inflamation pills and steroids and said to ice it every 20 min.I have done all that and the pain is really bad.Now I had an 11 pound 23 and a half in son without any pain meds,so I can handle pain.I guess my question is if I go to the emergency room am I wasting my time or will they do anything else for me.Thanks

they' might give you two over priced tylenol and then give you a prescription,have you tried calling your treating physician and asking him or his nurse to phone you in a new prescription,and ask him if he thinks you need to go to the emergency room ..this is the cheapest course unless you like sitting in an emergency room for hours only to have them do what i just previously said
while charging you an arm and a leg...just a thought ..but if you feel you need to go to the emergency room by all means do ...

They will probably give you IM pain meds which will relieve the pain temporarily and refer you back to your surgeon.

If you have urgent care facilities, they may be able to help but I would call and ask first. Many times they refer you on to the ER and you end up with bills from both places.

thanks and I did they say keep putting ice on and take the steriods,mind you it's a pretty strong pain med.And your right I don't want to sit for hrs,unless they call me in something stronger and I'm not sure they will.

sometimes us older folks have to be alot more tougher than we let on....the price of life...take care.... ..hope you get to feelin better...remember if there are no pain meds there's always...

Pam, first of all no one here is allowed to give out medical advice. With that thought in mind call your doctors office and let them know what is going on and ask them what in fact you need to do. They will have at least a nurse or someone on call for you to call if in fact they are not open today. Most likely like most have said if you go to the hospital they will give you something for pain and tell you to contact the doctor that in fact did the surgery on Monday. Hope you get to feeling better.

No problem on the post we just have to remind some not to always take what others say you would be surprised how many will. Sorry to hear they say they are full that sucks wonder if they are also willing to pay for the emergency room as well You would think at least they could say what to do or give you something else to take. Hummmm would make me want to change doctors

I are corn fused now... did you call the Doctors office that did the surgery? If not maybe you should, to let them know what kind of pain your in. Only you can decide whats the best course of action for you not anyone here including me.



And I wonder if you went out last night and did some drinking could that be a factor? hope you feel better soon

I did not go out,and yes called my doctor they did not want to give me anything stronger
