I think that they need each other, but Russia is energy independant. The US isn't. Russia also has more control over Iran, and we might end up needing their influence.

because russia is sitting on the deepest, largest oil fields in the world right now. No, that would be Kazakhstan. What Russia is sitting on is his oil pipelines. When Georgia (the country) attacked Ossetia last year was backed by US and Israeli spec ops, the whole deal had nothing to do with "russian agression", just USA and Russia competing for who's gonna control the pipeline near the part of Ossetia, now independent country but very Russia-favorite. Basically USa used Georgia ( a puppet country of USA with a puppet president) to try to gain access to strategic (oil) position on the map and just didn't work out. Same deal in Afghanistan + Puppy fields (Opium). Hundreds and thousands of people die because of this sh.t..goddam oil! |

because russia is sitting on the deepest, largest oil fields in the world right now. No, that would be Kazakhstan. What Russia is sitting on is his oil pipelines. ... Not quite correct, but close. From CIA Fact Book World Oil Production (those less than Kazakhstan omitted). Rank | Country | Oil production(bbl/day) | Date of Information 1 World 85,540,000 2007 est. 2 Saudi Arabia 10,250,000 2007 est. 3 Russia 9,980,000 2007 est. 4 United States 8,457,000 2007 est. 5 Iran 4,700,000 2007 est. 6 China 3,725,000 2008 est. 7 Mexico 3,501,000 2007 est. 8 Canada 3,425,000 2007 est. 9 United Arab Emirates 2,948,000 2007 est. 10 European Union 2,674,000 2007 11 Venezuela 2,667,000 2007 est. 12 Kuwait 2,613,000 2007 est. 13 Norway 2,565,000 2007 est. 14 Nigeria 2,352,000 2007 est. 15 Brazil 2,277,000 2007 est. 16 Algeria 2,173,000 2007 est. 17 Iraq 2,094,000 2007 est. 18 Angola 1,910,000 2008 est. 19 Libya 1,845,000 2007 est. 20 Kazakhstan 1,445,000 2007 est. World Oil Exports (those less than Kazakhstan omitted). Rank | Country | Oil exports(bbl/day) | Date of Information 1 World 66,190,000 2005 2 Saudi Arabia 8,900,000 2007 est. 3 Russia 5,170,000 2007 4 Iran 2,800,000 2007 est. 5 Norway 2,714,000 2005 6 United Arab Emirates 2,703,000 2005 est. 7 Nigeria 2,473,000 2005 8 Kuwait 2,356,000 2005 9 Canada 2,225,000 2005 10 Mexico 2,204,000 2005 11 Venezuela 2,203,000 2006 est. 12 Algeria 1,844,000 2005 est. 13 United Kingdom 1,749,000 2005 14 Iraq 1,670,000 2007 est. 15 Netherlands 1,639,000 2005 16 Libya 1,455,000 2005 17 Kazakhstan 1,236,000 2005 est. Thus, as we can see, Russia is world's second oil producer and world's second oil exporter. Kazakhstan is 19-th in production, and 16-th in exports. |

i was reading an article from russia that was explaining that they punctured the 17,000 foot mark where the oil actually is. the other fields are drilled over pockets of oil. russia found that these pockets were fed by tunnels that led down below the rocks and that the oil pockets were just leaks thru the rocks. they have drilled many of these, one of them is in either korea or vietnam, i forgot. the US has been trying to stop them from teaching the other countries this technology. they have virtually an undepletable source now.

Yeah, that is the old story. I believe this has been proved to be a rumor only. The Siberia (where the oil is) and the north shelf (part of Russian territory all the way to the north pole) used to be a tropical zone, before the last pole shift. Thus, the oil.
