My boss is leaving, today is her last day. brokenheart sad

I wrote her a card and we arranged for cake and let the whole courthouse staff know. She bought me a gift and a card... sniffle...on her last day she got me a gift. Whhhahhh!

What would you do if it was your boss who was leaving?

If it was the boss that laid me off last July...I would applaud....but if it were someone that I really liked...I would ask if we could keep in touch and maybe go see a movie or have lunch occasionally...I still do that with a former boss..we usually have lunch, go to a movie and then maybe a pedi if we have time

My boss is extremely impersonal with his employees so chances are we wouldn't find out about it until the day he was leaving.

I'd freak because that means I have to do her job now.

I have had so many different bosses that changing again wouldn't bother me. Some days he is so friendly and personalble and others he doesn't know that his employees are alive. I guess it is the stress he is under. Understandable. Just stay out of my way when you are like that however.

My boss works in California, so I'd probably either send him an email or give him a call to wish him good luck.

That's terrible.

Actually... my boss is widely disliked. Too bad they do not see her as I do, or know her as I do. She is a demanding, brilliant woman. She has a short temper and poor stress management skills.... but if you can adjust to that and work around it, well I did easily. Her bad moods were not my problem. Sometimes I would tease her and joke with her when she was testy and she'd stop and laugh...

Crap I'm getting teary. No one can teach me the things she could. She is irreplaceable.

Good thing I got a FULL box of kleenix on my desk however, Already half way through them:cry:

Unfortunately nobody is irreplaceable according to HR. You just have to ask anyone who's been laid off about that.
My boss works in NC so I'd call him and send a card.

This woman is irreplaceable. She is a distinguished and highly acomplished forensic psychologist with over 30 years experience. Watching her conduct interviews (highly rare to get to do such a thing, for anyone) and watching her testify in court.... these were events that I'm honored to have the priviledge of witnessing. HR can't even begin to know how to select for this position. It is simply not within their abilities.

My boss took a new job, from county to federal.

You should apply for the vacancy
